Rice is done.
Turned out better than Aaron's did the first time he installed his. Looks perfect. And works perfect.

I know he will post pics tomorrow.
yeah.. it turned out pretty freakin' awesome... a lot of effort and patience on Aaron's part made it possible as I'm pretty sure he can attest, I'm a very demanding customer... but it turned out exactly the way I envisioned it, and I couldn't be happier..

that's the mechanic just freakin' glad to finally be done ;)

HUGE thanks to meford and aaron, it was two years in the making, but when done, the gauges look like they came from the factory.

p.s. can't really see it in the picture, but there's a 1/8" headphone jack located just above the wideband O2 that is hooked up to the UEGO's serial out.. this will allow me to datalog the O2 very conveniently. :)
p.s.

sorry I don't have more in-progress pics... I was going to sit back and watch aaron do all the work, but then I somehow got involved... working on my own car... go figure...

Looks good. The gauges really do look like they were put there at the factory.
Having seen them live and in person myself I can also attest to how stock they look.

A fantastic job by all involved ;)

Looks awsome!
What about pics of the "other members" at this VERY exclusive meet?

nobody wants to see a pic of you showing up last minute, canceling dinner plans with us and drinking my beer.
Looks good Steve.

And the pic of Bryan and his kid working on the wiring is priceless.

"What do you suppose THAT is?"

"Nevermind. Let me stash my empty in there and we'll button it up and call it a day."

Actually, they were VERY professional. I even tried heckling them...no use.
Aaron did an awesome job, and Bryan offered lots of good help and advice as well... Once again, when it comes to installing something, i play the role of fussy customer, and they were able to do everything exactly as I requested...

fussy? no not you.....................

How many times did you paint everything?

Maybe that's why no g/f? Perfection doesn't exist. Except me.

the fasteners - painted once, sanded, redone, resanded, redone again...
the pod.. - painted once, touched up once, trimmed, retouched, scratched, touched up again..

um, the answer is, not that many times. :P

Which paint did you end up using... did you find a better match than the Autometer VHT stuff?

the autometer VHT was a non-match.. it matched the dash, but not the a-pillar... so I hit up napa a-la OAC Sparky... an argument and 20 minutes later, I got my paint and I am happy.
tell them about the parts guy at crappy tire.
