Well, I made it all the way to St.Georges de Beauce , Quebec lastnight approx 10
hrs. from my place in georgetown, and today I can't shift out of reverse at all. I took my car to Mr. Lube yesterday for a quick oil change before the trip, and buddy suggested the manual transmission drain and top-up. Sure, why not...well now I'm pretty pooched. I dont know what happened cause it was driving perfectly fine...then hit a light, stopped, and thats all she wrote. Anyone have any clue? Thanks
Oh yeah, and at one point in my trip...roughly about 3-4 hours along, I noticed that my actual shift knob was warm to the touch, then it cooled down to normal. I have a feeling that was when the problem happened. I drove another 6 hours with no probs untill today. The shifter moves from reverse into neutral and thats it...no side to side, just up and down through reverse. Need alittle feedback people...a bit worried here...and along way from home.
Maybe they did a flush and forgot to do the fill part of it .... seriously those guys they have working at mr. lube only work there because they couldn't operate a cash register......
i hope so man, I've never had any problems with them before...mind you I only get the odd oil job done there. I looked at the work order and they checked off the plug check section, but yeah, this sucks. Is it possible to drive like 900 kms with no fluids? no lights came on, if there are any.

900kms with no tranny fluid. Would never have happened. Either case mr lube is gonna be paying for any damages. Trust me they are responsible. If they change your oil but don't tighten the drain plug you lose all your oil 250km's later and blow your engine. They are paying for a new engine. But they also have insurance to cover them incases of that. Just contact Mr. Lube and ford find out the problem.
I hope so...I called them in mississauga (mr.lube) and told him about the situation, I also asked about the fluid type because there was a little confusion/arguing on the type to put in, and the tightening of the plugs, cause I didn't feel or hear anything since I was sitting in the car at the time.
Thanks for making me feel a little better...alot better actually, and I hope you're right...we'll see what they say on monday.
it could be a shift linkage problem too? my car had to have something connected to my shifter replaced at the dealer, I asked them why and they said it can cause your shifter to get "stuck" if its not replaced with the updated revised part...
I finally made it back home...took my gf's new civic....what a crappy ride...hated it. Never buying a honda.
and as for my car...we'll just have to see. How much did the linkage problem run you?
Glad to hear ya made it back! Hopefully it's just a warranty covered issue...
it was done while my car still had warranty, so there was no cost to me, i still have to pull up the receipts to see what exactly was done. but i had a problem with pulling it out of gears and they fixed it.
Ford called me today and it sounds like a cable snapped....I think. He said it'll be roughly 400 bucks installed. As soon as I get home I want to buy a high flow cat...no want, will...any ideas?
You can get a whole tranny swapped for $300 at most shops....what are they talking about $400 to install a freakin cable???
who knows? He doesn't speak english very well, and I've only just started learning a couple months ago , and I'm calling them back tomorrow before they do anything....getting parts tomorrow. To tell you the truth I have no idea what to expect.
my car is fixed....cables. almost 500 bucks, installed. Just happy it's done. Now I must leave for the long haul to quebec...later peeps.
