VOB files are usually what he actual DVD movie files are.
Winavi does any video file to DVD. ie. avi to dvd.

I think it also does dvd to any type as well.
Easy CD Creator (whichever the most current burn package is that is out right now from ROXIO). Seems to work perfectly for CD's/DVD's and various types of programs, games, video, applications, etc.
Easy CD creator
Nero Ultra
RecordNow!

for regular burning of data..

pinnacle studio/adobe premier for video DVD burning.

There are other various files (*.bin and i think *.vox) that are required to burn to dvd. Winavi makes all that for you.
DVDXCopy for copying movies
I use NERO for everything else
alcohol 120%

I also use divx2dvd then copy2dvd alot as well lately... ;)

.bin is just an image file that is made to burn the copy of your dvd you created in most cases

the other files would be .ifo

and i mainly use nero ultra or dvd decrypter
Nero is really good (or at least it was until the new version.. I hate all the extra bloat it has taken on). Easy Media Creator (the new name for Easy CD Creator) is nice and easy to use too. I have DVDXcopy for copying DVDs.

I used to use Alcohol 120%, but the virtual drive it installs on your computer can mess with copy protection on games.. some of the newer games will check your system for virtual drives and wont run if they blacklisted Alcohol's virtual drive.
Roxio CD Creator
Nero

sometimes i'll use the built-in windows burning s***, but only as a last resort
