I've seen it before, amazing in morbid way. Worth touring the whole website.

I can't even begin to think what that would have been like. To imagine that the government didn't even thell their people what had happened until days later. It made me sad reading through the pages.
I can't even imagine.......

I read the whole thing and it really hit me. To think of the panic and death that occurred from such an event is just mind boggling.

There's been a lot of talk that this woman's story isn't exactly true...
and I believe this statement because the story on the site has changed quite a bit since the 1st time I read the site 2 or so years ago and now.
Quote:I am sorry to report that much of Elena's story is not true. She did not travel around the zone by herself on a motorcycle. Motorcycles are banned in the zone, as is wandering around alone, without an escort from the zone administration. She made one trip there with her husband and a friend. They traveled in a Chornobyl car that picked them up in Kyiv.
Quote:Indeed, correcting all the factual errors and falsehoods in "Ghost Town" would consume as much space as the Web site itself. But the motorcycle story was such an outrageous fiction that I thought the readers of e-Poshta should know.

True or not it is still disgusting what the soviet government did to their own people to hide the fact that they F'ed up.
Sad just the same.
Sad just the same.
