another top gear video
but this time, he does a lap in an NSX at laguna seca in GT3, and then does the same in the real car on the real track.
fun to watch, probably not so fun to be the guy behind the wheel.
Wow... Just wow....
I want a NSX
Wow, I would have thought the real car would have been faster around Leguna Seca. I always found that the game controls don't give you enough feed back to actually feel what a real car would give you and that a real car would give you more control around the circuit.
I guess I am a worse gamer than actual driver.
games are just a loose approximations of real life though, you can get away with a lot in a videogame you can't in real life (like using walls to steer).
Hell, I've been able to do a lap of the nurburgring in under 5 minutes with the right car.. I honestly don't think an F1 car could do that in real life.
"...Thats just pornography..."
I've never owned a gaming system so you'd think I'd be the least likely person to say these games are even close to real life however "electronic simulators", which these games essentially are, do play a big role in my industry and aviation as well. A driving game like they have now is much more realistic than any simulator I would have used just a few years ago or even at present.

It would be even harder with boats.. how do you recreate the feel of dolphins bouncing off your hull in a videogame?
