You do with UPS.

Flofocus had it right.

UPS=The devil.

Yup, UPS will make you pay upfront. USPS takes a long time but they always workout cheaper.
And dont even bother trying to get the charges withdrawn...It will take you months to do so.

Turbo Tom sent me a raptor to log my car, He put an insurance value of $500.00 on it incase it went missing. UPS wanted Duty and taxes on it. I said WTF? Send it back, I'm done with UPS. Any company that refuses to ship with another shipper loses my business, easy as that.

UPS sent it back to Tom, HE had to pay the duty and taxes on it to get it back in his hands. They wouldnt give it back unless those charges were covered.

I didnt even buy the thing, and I was charged taxes & duty on it. I was suppose to use it it that night, and send it back in the package provided by Tom, but no way in hell I was paying money for something that I didnt even purchase.

UPS can suck my sweaty salty balls, but I really hope it works out for you.
UPS.com says it's on the truck, on the way to the destination.

This is more drama than the 'Jet. Almost.

I'll let you guys know what the outcome is.

Congratulations for having a vendor that will break the law for you.

Hope the RCMP doesn't knock on your door for filing a fraudulent Customs Declaration.

Actually, joking aside, good for you, luckily you didn't run into a problem with a lost shipment. You'd have been a lucky recipient of a $1 shipping insurance payout.

But all's well that ends well. ;)
Always nice when the Americans will work with you to side step those BS charges, and yes like sparky said, it would have sucked had it gone missing, but for the relativly low value of the part to begin with, I'd say it was worth the "risk" of it being lost.
Well, to be perfectly honest... I didn't ask them to do that. By the time I realized there was a shipping choice... it had shipped.

I never asked them to do that, they chose to. However, I won't lie and say I'm not glad that they did.

This is one seriously well-done piece of work. No fancy crap or paint, just a well-machined UDP.

I can't wait to get it bolted on.

Glad you didnt get raped.
I ALWAYS ask US sellers to use USPS for that very reason.

UPS rapes you on brokerage charges.... i'm cringing at the thought of what its gonna cost when my KW suspension comes next week...

At least FedEx will just drop the item off.... but then you get the bill in the mail later!
I've actually only had good experience with UPS it was fedex that I had the issue with. All my UPS shipments, if they had brokerage I had the options to pay it at the door. Fedex made me drive all the way across town cause they didn't want to deliver it with brokerage on it.

IF the package is labeled as a gift, product sample or has a low value then you won't pay anything. Mind you customs does randomly investigate packages. A 5' x 7' box with a declared value of $15 might raise a flag :)

Liek flo said always ask the shipper to help you out by low balling the value or what not. If they don't buy from them plenty of over stores out there.
so...did you ever get the UDP installed?

A tad optimistic me thinks....I'm sure you will notice better throttle response however.

I'm hoping for a spring / early summer dyno day so I can see what I am really putting down to the pavement.

Stock spi have 90-93 WHP. If you have UDP, exhaust intake, you can think to have 100-105 WHP...

Not more !
cool

50% sounds like a lot to underdrive your accessories but its all good in the end!
I'm shooting for 110WHP before a cam upgrade or anything else. That may be after a cleanup tune for performance with an X-Cal2. I know I'd definitely break 110 with a 91 octane X-Cal 2 tune and the UDP.

We're booked for tomorrow at 4:30 anyways.

Actually, if I can find one, I'd say I'd hit a solid 110WHP with the UDP and a 60mm BDR TB for sure, and more after an 87 octane cleanup tune.

Yeah ! In your dream body !

I dont' want to piss you off but, no way you are hitting 110WHP with a SPI + UDP + TB.

A guy on focaljet was doing 103 WHP with BDR TB, exhaust and intake, with is SPI and IB5 Transmission.

With FS cool-flo + Race Headers + Magnaflow exhaust + UDP + Alt Pulley + Xcal + Crane Cam stage 2 + Spring-Retainer-valve stem + Iridim spark plug + Cam Gear + Dyno Tuning, my old SPI was hitting +- 125WHP max !

The only benefit of all these mods? My SPI was a killing machine on the highway, nothing more !

But, you have the right to say what ever you want so, go ahead ! :P
There's a wide variance in cars, anyone here will tell you that.

I'm not saying my car is the second coming of DiMaggio, but it feels really good of late. I have a feeling that the feeling will get better tomorrow afternoon.

The benefit of MY mods is personal satisfaction that the car is the way I want it, no matter how slow or fast it is.
Well... it's done. Stockfish honoured their dirt-cheap quote to install it.

It's on. Wow, does the SPI ever like to rev now!

And, of course... we got s**t on with snow today pretty good. So the highways are covered, streets look like farmers' fields, and the extra punch and responsiveness makes the first KM or so from the dealer to back home... interesting. :D

The belt's a tad tight, but they said to give it a day or two to see if it stretches a bit. If it doesn't, I figure I can get a slightly longer one on.

It doesn't really charge fully below 1200RPMs, but then again it's not like not having ANY charge at all. The headlights and dash dim a tad, but that was to be expected.

Overall, the giddyness factor has definitely increased. A simple blip of the throttle makes it really rev now. Remember that pause that's induced by the IMRC at mid-range? It appears to be gone again, or at least well dampened by the increased desire to rev. I tested for that specifically - briefly but specifically.

I hope the roads clear tomorrow. I plan on having fun on the way to work. So much for the extra gas savings :D

Oh, and starting with the trip down to Toronto this weekend, I'll track the gas consumption and let you guys know how it does - good, bad or indifferent.
Glad to hear you finally got the UDP's installed.

All the probs were prolly caused by the fact that they were confused by someone trying to mod a SPI. :P

Seriously tho it'll be cool to see what kinda numbers that thing puts down when you get it on a dyno.
