See, that's what I've been saying all along. Everybody here complained that they didn't bring Europe's performance Focus over here, but when it comes to putting out the money people would pooh-pooh it because it's "still a focus".

The "have your cake and eat it too" syndrome :P
Personally $50K for a Ford large sedan optioned to the hilt is a lot of scratch you must admit  I think if it was closer to $40K though optioned to the gills they wouldn't be able to make enough of them.

Give me a Focus RS with 305HP vs this Taurus and I'll gladly pay 35,000 - 38,000 for the Focus!
Lighter, sportier, sexy and track worthy!!! Gimme it damn it!!! NOW. ;)

You're delusional. Name ANY new car in that price range with that HP.
The Volvo C30 (with turbo 5 cyl.) is essentially a 230HP Euro Focus, starts at $32G and as with any Volvo once a few options are picked it is through the roof and it is a sales disaster.
$50G is the buy in for the 300 club. (STi/EVO/Infinity etc.)
EDIT: One exception: though I haven't spent a lot of time considering it, I guess the new Tiburon (Genisis Coupe) even loaded comes in well under $50G? It's probably a screaming deal if one looks at it without brand bias and plus its RWD.
a focus may be a focus... but at least its not a hyundai :D :D :D

That is shallow and probabaly from someone who couldn't swim in the deep end anyway.
The Genesis Coupe's problem is weight just like the SHO Taurus.
I have at the very least one car in my driveway that would kick both and I've had it since 2003 and the other since 2000.
I can't be convinced a 2010 Taurus would be faster around any track than my Sube or even my Focus.
The Taurus is just TOO big and the Hyundai would spank it nuclear war threat style so much so that UN intervention would be involved. Does the Taurus even come in a manual tranny? Of course not. SPORTS CAR MY ASS!
The Taurus is just fat and ugly too.
I dare anyone, even NOS, to call it sexy.
THe Taurus is indeed too f***in big. Wow, the sailor and I agree on s*** again already?
The Fusion would make a much better platform for this motor if Ford is serious about having sporting pretenses and not "keeping up with the Charger family".
A Focus has "street cred", especially amongst enthusiasts. Anyone glancing at a current Euro-spec uhm, spec sheet would see the value in the lineup. A Focus is meant to be a sporty vehicle. To a lesser extent, the Fusion would grow into that role nicely. They even have AWD Fusions already (since intro) as well.
A Taurus? It was always cladding, motor and a transmission for a people conveyor. As the car grew, it left the sporting demeanour behind (99-02 SHO anyone?). If nothing else, this is a more luxurious and quicker 99 SHO. It's far too big to be taken seriously.
Even a CDN-spec G8 GT with a 6-speed auto stickers at 42Gs. I know that it's "only" a GM, but I'd rather drive something that's already proven in the global market (Holden Commodore) with proven bits and pieces (Holden, Corvette parts).
By all accounts, Ford appears to be largely ignoring their domestic competition and they're going right for the Europeans. Too bad that there's a Teutonic wall of Whupass waiting for them.
And again, on that note, I'll get a slightly used Legacy GT Spec.B or WRX STi and save a pile while equalling or bettering the SHO's performance, stock for stock. That doesn't even speak to the plethora of upgrades that are out there for Subarus. Something tells me the SHO won't enjoy even a fraction of that aftermarket parts availability for years to come. Performance parts makers have had a great track record of shunning capable powertrain platforms from Ford, especially in the last 10 years.

I think it's sexy. There, I said it. :P Then again, I love the Marauder too. And the XR4Ti. I guess I'm fawked in the head when it comes to care love. :D
To me, the SHO is going squarely at the Chrysler 300C AWD. It's starting price is $49,595 (before LOTS of incentives). The G8 GT fits in as well, but without AWD, not quite. Anything I have read has rated the interior fit and finish as
almost BMW or Audi, so if that is true, the price is easily justifiable compared to the rest of the competition.
Oh, and NOS, you're thinking of the '96-'99 SHO, there were none after '99.
I'm not too supportive of the looks, but maybe it looks better in "person" I think we are confused over the placing of the name Taurus. We are thinking Taurus, mid-sized family car, which is now the Fusion. The Taurus is now what the LTD used to be, the top of the line Ford product. On a side note, someone i know bought a Fusion, and is amazed at the quality and driveability of it. Keeps saying that it reminds them of BMW, ( if that's a good thing )

I'm not delusional, just an optimist ;)
BTW, for 39G$, you can get a 315HP Mustang GT, so, a little less than that 50G you mention, unless you mean with taxes/interest!

I like everything about the '10 Mustang except for the rear.
Anyone seen Iacocca's limited Stang? Me likey very much!
yup only gonna be like what 25 models made or something, super clean 2009.5 Stang
Wow, considering how things blew up between Iacocca & Ford when they split, I'm surprised that this is being done.
I note that his pose with this car is the same as the pose he struck in '79 with the then new Fox Body 'Stang just before he got fired.
