http://www.ncix.com that's all I have to say
I'll second NCIX.com.

Let me see what I can spec for you.

When you say 256MB video card... do you really do serious gaming? If not, any generic 128MB will do you just fine and save you a whack of cash.

I hate to take the thread OT... but lol going with a 256mb video card and only 512mb ram is almost pointless...

At least start off with 1gb of ram. and go with a vidcard with at least 128mb of gddr3
i don't see how video memory and system memory have anythign to do with eachother.....

...aslo ...yea i've been going to ncix for YEARS.....them and tigerdirect.ca ...both excellent sites....both canadian...

was hoping someone had some loose parts kicking around

i'm not really a hard core gamer...

i play world of warcraft, and battlefield1942/desert combat....was looking at playing battlefield2 ....but my current system can't handle it...

here is what i have currently:

-p4 1.7
-intel MB [supports up to agp 2x/4x video cards, and 2gigs of RDram]
-256mb RDram
-geforce4 mx440 video [64mb ddr...or sd ...can't remember]
-160gig + 20gig Hd's
They dont really have much to do with each other, Its just that right now the standard seems to be 1gb of ram. 256mb vid cards are overkill at the moment esp if youre not into hardcore gaming. Some of the cheaper 256mb cards (back when i was looking) Put out frame rates 2 or 3fps slower than the 128mb counterparts. Sadly though. even a 256mb card isnt enough to play Doom 3 on its highest settings.
