Most Zetecs can hit that all day long with a good turbo kit and I/C apparently.

most forms of boosting the SVT are netting nearly 250whp... the regular zetec is a bitch to get more than 220WHP out of because of it's wimpy internals (on 91 octane that is)

thankyou puppet... Exactly what i was going to say.
If i ever have the chance to get decent insurance with F/I. i'll be piecing together a turbo kit for my svt. and shooting for the 250hp mark.
Even the powerworks kit is hitting the 250hp mark on the svt ;)

Also doesn't the Vortec kit put out 276 on a completely stock SVTF??? :o
Yeah but the Vortech is a PITA... to install, to tune. etc.
if ppl can boost high and get big numbers from b series vtec motors i don't think anyone can legitimately use high compression alone as an excuse for not getting more than 220whp on a svt motor...

I dunno man. I think The FastTrax focus proves that stament to be wrong. Tom allready proved it. Its doable.
Still luv my svtf as much as I did when I first drove her home :) .
WHere are all these cheap cheap SVTs? in the US? what states, are they down south, i got 3 weeks off coming up i think it would be definetaly worth a road trip to florida or somewhere for a $6,000US SVT focus, i wanna go already

But how the heck do you get around the fact that decent boost + high-compression motor - race gas = detonation? One would assume you'd need like 100+ octane to have it play nice with more than 7-9 PSI without dropping the compression.
Actually, from every V8 I've ever seen S/Ced, not lowering the compression isn't an option if you want to run 91-94 octane.
