Full Version: Finally Drove An Svt

FocusGuy7476 (Tyler) his mom let me try out her SVT tonight. I sat there for a bit trying to figure out how shift stick worked. Would need getting used to. Since you go straight up in the Zetec and your in 1st where as the SVT your in 3rd. For me anyway.

I wish the car would of had the same feeling as mine + SVT engine then I could of got a better idea. LOL sat to high for me and im so use to my "go kart" feeling ride and crazy loose throttle.

I like it thow. This car made me re think that I am a still not ready for 200hp yet. I was very much finding the 170hp crank fun enough for me and I wasnt even driving it hard.

Yep after a while though 170 crank is not enough. I'm hoping 220hp crank with the jrsc will satisfy me....atleast for a while. Lol, I'm never happy with what I have :P .
I got 170whp, and its not enough.. I WANT MORE! MORE MORE MORE!

Im sure thow once I get the focus boosted I well want more.
I got a JRSC on my zetec ZX3 with mild boost and I want more! Hopefully the SVT header kit that I ordered 2 months ago will arrive soon. (still backordered from Ford Racing) This should give me a little more power, otherwise Big Boost Upgrade here I come.

I'm going to have to watch out now, just realized on a quick drive this morning that if I oush my car a little bit more than normal, I am already over the city speed limit by the time I shift to second, Oooops :P :ph34r:

Sounded a little like my wife. She doesn't understand the reasoning for making a car faster when we have set speed limits.

Answer to that question... So that you can get to that set speed limit all the much faster.
Let's just say Jay was surprised when I gave him the keys to my car after he asked if he could try it. I wasn't worried.Jarrod also took it for a spin.
Oh dont worry. Just wait till you guys see what I got planned for the focus LOL. May take a while but im making sure it done right and im in no rush.

In the mean time can I try the SVT again??? :D

oh man. Something needs to be done wiht that shifter ASAP! LOL felt like a baseball bat. I do aplogize for having to move the seats so much

see jay... the svt isnt overrated... if you stepped from a non-modified focus to the svt, it would be a world of difference.
Jay, probs with the SVTF...1.Yup, seats are WAY too high. Most have learned to deal with it. 2.shifter, lower motor mount & short throw help this out lots. 3. LAZY throttle response. FC TB would fix this....I hope :( . It sucks, cause you have to mash the pedal and it still feels like your going nowhere fast untill the TB catches up with your input. One thing you didn't mention but if you lived with it for a few days, you would notice that the programming sucks in the computer. SCT and Diablo to the rescue. Great cars by far, just not for the MSRP that was on them, but now one can be had for almost the same price as a ZX5 or ZTS of the same year. The car was never overrated, it just needs some tweeking to make it perfect!
The thing is I would like to compare a boosted ZX3 to a SVT. Is it worth paying the extra money for an SVT or just use that extra money you save with the Zetec to boost it. The 8-10g you save would get you a pretty quick Zetec.

Sure you can boost the SVT and make it quick but I have yet to see anyone take an SVT to that limit. Looks at Toms, The Vegas focus. They both run 11seconds and there Zetecs. Even Johns FastTrax/HKS focus is making 318whp and its a Zetec.

Im sure the SVT gives you that extra head start but I still dont think there is enough aftermarket support out there like there is for the Zetec and now that the 2.3L are out every thing is coming out for them.
yeah. but that 8-10g's was new.. now its like 3~4 g's ive seen some 02 svt's down here go as low as 13
