And yes, of course I've driven one.

IMO, I'd take a lightly modded ZX3 over a SVT because thats just me, I don't like having something that tons of other people have.

Modified SVT vs. Modified ZX3 is a easy choice though.

I still think SVT's are overpriced.

i didn't know they produced more svts than zx3s. :D
i agree that the svt was overpriced, thats why i waited and got it for 23k on the road, i know of people who spent the same amount on a fully loaded zx3.

What I'm saying is my car doesn't resemble a stock Focus what so ever. Where as a stock SVT would.

So does mine. But lets say I started with an SVT, and did everything to that SVT that I did to my ZX3, I would have one sweet ass ride. Some people just dont get my point.

Its not the same car.

If you're going to replace the entire suspension, starting off with an SVT would benefit you nothing.
Wow.

For me, choosing the SVT was for completely different reasons than what has been discussed here over four pages.

- It was having a limited edition exclusive vehicle
- It was for the preferential treatment at the dealerships
- It was for the bonuses I get in the mail from the SVTOA
- It was for being able to have one of under 4000 made, and one of under 12 in a city of over a million people
- It was for being able to legally compete in sanctioned race events, under the cover of a full insurancy policy
- It was knowing that purchasing this vehicle would mean I am a part of a long and successful run of performance vehicles in Ford's heritage

Need I go on? :)

Just trying to add to the conversation that there is more to the SVT package than just aesthetics and performance...

To each his own I guess.

I wouldn't pay a penny more for any of the reasons you listed, but thats just me.

And what is this preffered treatment I always hear? Is it actually true?

Exactly. To each his own. I was raised with Ford Racing all around me. So it was only natural....

As for the preferential treatment at dealerships... All SVT owners get things like a free loaner when in for non-regular maintenance things. A free car wash and vacuum and detail job each time you have your oil changed. It's the small stuff that counts.

My particular dealership also "sucks up" to SVT owners... for example, when I call to make an appointment for anything, they don't tell me what time slots they have available and make me pick one. Instead, I tell them what time I want, and they accomodate me.

ok bud, im gonna run a 14.9 fully bone stock on my svt when the strip opens, can your car do that? I ran 15.0 first time I took her there last year....

The SVT I drove didn't have the bottom end or acceleration my car has.

The thing is thow thats not the case with every SVT owner. Some ppl buy an SVT just more of the fact to say they own an SVT.

One guy at the track brought his SVT and we were all stoked to see it. He ran hi 17's. Obviously it was a waste of time for this guy to by an SVT. He could of saved himself the money got a used ZX3 ran the same times then used the money he saved buying a ZX3 to learn how to drive.

How much $$ do you have in your car, I know I had a ton of money in my cavaliers engine and (plus it started with 150hp and 150lb torque) it was only a little faster than the stock SVT I have, and in handling the SVT is hands down way better. But remember the SVT was designed to be a high reving motor.

David
All I know is last year when I was checking out an SVT in Saskatoon the sale man even told me.

"Jason why even bother with an SVT? Your car is nice. Slap on your turbo and your wont need an SVT"

Sure the SVT is a nice starting point but if your only after 200HP that is easy to obtain on a ZX3.
Im not sure what a stock ZX3 has in terms of HP but i thought it was 120, and to get to 200hp you need to create 80 more hp. In a svt you need 30 hp. Im sure it would cost almost $10 grand to get 80hp gains. on my cavy I had the engine ported and polished, cam swap, ported intake manifold 62mm throttle body, larger injectors, and even more and was barely at the 200hp plateau. In an SVT bolt on any supercharger 4-5gs and you in the mid 200hp range. Plus HP is great in a straight line. Drive in the back roads sometime and realize there is more than HP to create a great drving expieriance.
Back to the topic of this post. Yes SVT's are hard to sell.

It's all a big pissing match that has no end. I bought an SVT because I wanted one. You bought a ZX3 because you wanted one. End of story.
My dealer washes and vaccums my car when I have oil changes too. ;)

Yeah I am sure, but svt owners dont have to get on their knees and Su...

My 17 year old brother jsut bought a SVTF for a winter beater so its good for something

In 02 I would have disagreed, but now yeah...RSX S/GTI 1.8T/SRT Fugly4/Generic Motors Cobalt SS-Ion Redline.... Suddenly 170hp just don't cut it.

Same here. I wanted one but never would have paid sticker for it. I waited and got mine at blow out price.
