I can attest that the black box, even though your car wont explode cuz of it, is not a good way to tune, it is somehow of an "ok" working band aid. I never felt safe with the tapping of the injectors and all. And it does run pig rich by moment cuz my car was smoking like a diesel when shifting.
I would realy love to see a heads up of Black box VS Tuned, in real life and on paper.
we should chip in to get bluetoy a tune so he can tell us.
Meister, can we rent him a tune for a month or something?

Like i said, my tune will make more power, and more torque with a safer A/F and about 15* less timing or your money back.
You asked me to step up, here it is. I am literally putting my money where my mouth is. Pay for a custom tune only if the results are better than the JR....i

Who are you trying to kid? The average car on this board has a book value of your "turbo kit".
This example is so wrong.

Lol, that is a horrible example.
An example of converting a stock supercharged Mustang to a turbo kit is obviously going to be big bucks.
And a Greddy kit for any car is expensive, nevermind the 350Z that already has 280hp, will obviously not need to see a lot of boost to see nice numbers.
A good example would be a comparison of a FI kit for an economical 4 cylinder car in the Focus price range.

Don't forget a tune, because your car will explode or the cylinders will get washed down using their black box controller

You are completely out of touch. I have been running a JRSC with the black box for nearly 35,000 km's. There is no washing of cylinders and apparently there is no exploding engine. I guess you have to jump on the JR black box bashing bandwagon to promote yourself. When you make some power with your tuning then you can jump in.. All you have done so far is take someone's money and given them what everyone else has with the black box.
Stick with Mustangs. We all know you are a mustang shop and if you want some nice aluminum heater knobs for your Focus you can help out.
There is no one here willing to spend 7400 bux on an entry level economy car. You're barking up the wrong tree.
You and Tom really annoy me. You claim to be super tuners yet you cannot make any more power than JR makes with the simple back box.
Put up or Shut up.

Bluetoy, the blackbox just dumps fuel plain and simple...from the setup I saw having an A/F as rich as that will wash down the cylinders...
Also, there is WAY WAY WAY too much timing without tuning the computer. There are so many parameters not taken care of that have to be, when putting on a blower on these car's especially the JR unit.
Give me your car and I will make 15-20whp over the JR "toon" and it will be safer or your money back. Our numbers were much higher than the baseline dyno from JR and that is what counts.
We are a full service shop, offering parts and installs for the Focus, Mustang, Truck, etc
Wake up man, every single tuner has commented on the JR setup and how terrible it is...but I guess we all just want to promote our business.

You are going to give me 220 whp or my money back.. Since I have 200 now and an a/f of 12:1 (not pig rich). If I still have my car you can do it.
I can assure you I am very happy with the setup the way it is. It is NOT pig rich. there is NO buildup on my plugs and NO silver aluminum either. I drive my car and I use all my 200 hp whenever possible. Right now I am not afraid to shift at 7300 rpm in every gear including 5th which runs near 7300 for a while. I can tell you that the only JRSC SVT that I know of with an engine failure was tuned by SCT.
I am very skeptical, especially since you did not even know you could not chip an SVTF until recently.
this tread as became right down nasty...
seriously, can we give each other some sort of credit or something. its all half ass bashing that lead nowhere.
so what steeda.ca majority of customer are stang, they still offer and take the time to serve the focus community. can you blame em? no.
Meister, JrSC wont explode your engine
Bluetoy, admit that your car isnt dyno tuned, you might have been lucky, but mine was indeed running pig rich with JRSC tuning.
as for the JRSC running sct blowing up, the other half of the story was that it was tuned for only half the boost the guy was running, he changed pulley after he got tuned.... not too wise, I'd say it was customer fault.
the bad thing is your trying to compare prices with Greddy. You cant. Greddy has been in the market for a long time and they have poven them selves. Your expected to pay big $$$ for any type of Greddy part.
SVT owners who just want that extra punch can easily go with a Pro Charger kit for alot cheaper. Pro Charger has been proven, much cheaper and room for expansion.. Even the JRSC is a sweet package. Steeda you have to offer something that can compare along qaulity of lines of these other kits and beat there prices.
I want to see less talking and actually see something made.

Sorry but is it me or was this thread started to see if anyone wanted BIG power... not inexpensive ways of providing "that extra punch"
Ok so if anyone after BIG power why dont they just goto Toms. What would make your kit better then his. Are you going to offer a much nicer pricing and same qaulity of parts.

So how much will this custom tune cost... with the cost of the xcalibrator. Ill go for this as soon as my JRSC is instaled. assuming you will get me the 220WHP im looking for.
You'll even get a bit of a head start... Ive got an MBRP exhaust, Fidanza cam gear and im also looking into a FC65mm tb to be installed. where the JRSC making 200whp. is bolted onto a stock motor w/ stock exhaust.

I will make more power and tq, much safer then the JR way..and I stand by my comment. Be prepared for me to start yankin at that black box and other stuff I do not like about how JR wants the car's setup

c'mon man, you're going tangent on the point. Quite frankly I'd be delighted to hear of one of you guys getting Tom's kit.
If anyone want's we are offering Tom's kit's for canadian customers...almost a direct conversion from USD.
What power curves look better.....hmmm

I never said my car was dyno tuned. It has been on 3 different dynos though. It doesn't run rich. I am not the exception either.
I checked back and you are correct the expired engine was due to much boost and tuning for low boost... My bad.
So then I guess there's no exploding JRSC engines.
Meister You will have my money if you can get me ~220 WHP as you state...

You have much smoothing applied to your dyno graph. I can post mine and it looks VERY similar to yours...
if you guys can get me the 220whp that i want at the stock 6psi.... i wont even bother installing the black box... ill install the s/c and have the car towed to you guys. and you can have at it

We have always been using SAE smoothinh 5. Smooth has a correction factor on the numbers as well. With a smoothing of 0, the TQ and HP will still look like that.
Anytime people post charts, in the mustang world it is shows as SAE smoothing 5. To keep keyboard racers happy, we do this as well
