Anyone know how to remove the stock shifter knob off of a manual 5 speed transmission?

Turn counterclock wise.

Yeah, pretty simple. Might take a little muscle to get it loose for the first time though, mine was on pretty good.

Hmm just a minute. You've got the SPI with the 5-speed, right? I just remembered seeing this picture of your car:



Most of us are thinking of our Zetec 5-speed knob with reverse lock-out built in. I'm going to assume this style knob will just screw off the same way, but I'm not positive.

If not, Anthony's suggestion will definitely work :P
