I've noticed this about 5-6 times now...the gas gauge on my 2003 ZTS when shut off, goes to half way...(pointing striaght up) and stays there, until I restart the car when it goes back to where it should be...I'm pretty good about monitoring my trip but, I'm not ven sure if that is accurate now...

With the gas gauge, I thought it was just a fluke and the first 3 times it happened, I had over a half tank, but the 4th time I was just under half and yesterday it was almost empty, and every time it keeps going back to half-way...

Can anyone inform me of the recall on the focus fuel gauge...what year/model where affected..

I had a funky acting fuel gauge that ended up being related to the fuel sending unit.

Yes.

That's a sign that your fuel sending unit is going. The fuel sending unit is attached to the fuel pump, so therefore they have to change both.
I had three of them go on my focus when I had it.
