I think that Marc's post is one hell of a read quite frankly. Dom (and others) is right that this was in the making, and well, let's get it all out. Remember when you wanted to beat the s**t out of your best friend cause he pissed you off, said rotten things out of anger... then with a sore jaw out pops a smile, and a hand shake followed by "wanna play some ball or somethin man?" - are we there yet fellas. Geez, let's plan a pissing contest followed by he said she said every year at this time, then we can all take a deep breath and play together all summer!

I think this was a timely post Marc, it is the summer, the best opportunity for us all to get together and be a club. There are no haters here, maybe just some old skipping records. I realize that not everyone will enjoy the company of some other person in some situations but let sleeping dogs lie.

I've been to 2 meets in TO this year with tons more to come, and you know what... some of the most fun. Some guys are willing to take a day off work, some aren't. But I can be certain of one thing, that for those that do get together, it's a great experience and it's only going to get better... trust me ;)

The last bunch of posts on Marcs thread were great summaries, so I won't repeat the details of ricer...show...go...RESPECT. But I will say this, you've all expressed the desire to have a larger community of experts/members/freinds... so when was the last time you ACTUALLY approached somebody about our club? Sounds like cake and eat it too syndrome. I will provide an example, to which I am quilty as well. Donway Show and Shine, approx 14 foci, 6 or 7 members, one sponsored car... can any of you that attended please tell me if you approached the other half of the focus field, introduced yourself, asked what they've got in the car, told them about the club, and the key point... AND did all this before criticizing some aspect of the car? I'm GUILTY, but not again. Think about it.

It's time to smile with that sore jaw, suck it up and grow together... see you all very soon :D stay posted!
I think the threads were closed too soon but probably only because I had something else to say.

The original question mentioned scaring away new members.

I was wondering..........if a potential new member is so fragile that they would leave because what one or two people happen to feel about the Focus were they worth having as members in the first place?

Those people who are critical of the Focus at times did or currently do own a Focus and put lots of money time and effort into them. I'd rather hear a full spectrum of opinions rather than nothing but unconditional praise.

For example am I suppossed to withold the fact that my car is in the shop again and that I'm displeased at the frequency of down time? Is mention of problems and recalls verbotten? Just the other day, thanks to me, a newer member was made aware of a recall for his car that it appears Ford overlooked in his case. It was an important one too, wheel bearings.

Fight the power
