May 20, 2004--
Teams are still waiting on the results of the post-Cyprus Rally analysis of the Peugeot and Citroen cars, which will determine the final result of the event.
The 307s of winner Gronholm and fourth-placed team-mate Harri Rovanpera and the Xsaras of second-placed Sebastien Loeb and fourth-placed Carlos Sainz are subject to further examination of the water pumps.
A final decision, slated for May 19, had been delayed because Peugeot has been called to a meeting of the event stewards at the FIA's Paris headqaurters on May 26. This may delay the definitive decision on the result of the event until then.
This news, however, suggests that the Citroens could very well have passed the initial technical inspection by the stewards, but that the situation with the Peugeot's of Gronholm and Rovenpera is more complex and requires additional time to investigate and clarify the situation.
