A disappointing first outting on Rally Cyprus for Ford's Francois Duval!! And bad times for others too!
Duval, with the redesigned WRC RS 04, was forced to retire on day 1 of Rally Cyprus due to mechanical problems!
Focus WRC driver Ioannis Papadimitriou was also forced into early retirement due to mechanical failure
Markko Martin is also not off to a great start he is currently .21+ in 4th place but, there is still lots of Rally left..
More bad news on day 2 as Antony Warmbold, like Francois Duval and Ioannis Papadimitriou, became the 3rd A8 casualty for Ford. He was forced to retire after his Focus WRC RS 02 went off the road with irrepairable damage.
Markko Martin had a better day 2 of Rally Cyprus but is still .33+ in 3rd place. He needs to do well on day 3 if Ford hopes to keep it's lead in the WRC. This should prove all the more difficult for point standings with Markko being the sole Ford car still in the Rally.
Marcus Gronholm has continued his lead and Sebastien Loeb is .22+ in 2nd place.
Day3 should be an interesting finish!
Well Rally Cyprus is done and Marcus Gronholm is victorious adding 10 points to his drivers standings to put him in 1st place, overall, with 34 points. 2nd place belongs to Sebastien Loeb, with 33 points.
Markko Martin drops into 3rd place, overall, with 32 points which isn't so bad considering the 75% loss of A8 entered Ford cars. Markko was left to be the sole point winner for Ford...3rd sounds pretty good after one vicious Rally Cyprus!
In the Manufacturers standings, Ford still holds 1st place with 53 points. Citroen trails in 2nd with 51 points, and Peugeot staying strong in 3rd with 47 points.
