I just picked up a set of 18x8 rims for a really great price, but now I need to know what size tires to run with a 1.5" drop and a 40 mil offset?

I want to run 215-40-18's but with the offset I'm worried about hard rubbing, I don't really want to run 215-35-18's.

Anyone else running a 18x8 with a 40 offset and lower suspension?
I have 17x7's with +40 offset with 225x45 series with plenty of rubbing with 1.5" drop. I'm hoping rolling my fenders will buy me some time until I can get new rims with a better offset.

I haven't put my summers on yet I have new 215-35R18s and I am lowered 1.5 - 1.75" so I can't tell you, I'll find out in a week when I come back from vacation.
I have 18X8 with a 35 offset running 215/35R18 XL's

You should be fine if you switch to a 215-45-17 that's what I'm running atm with out any rubbing, I also had a 2.2" drop with out any issues with a 215-45.

Let me know how it works out, I won't be putting tires on for a little while so a 215-35 might be my option.

Damn!
I didn't think a 35 offset would even work.
How much lower is your car?
A set of 225-35-18's came into work so I put them on yesterday, so far no issues at all.
They do stick out a fair bit, so eventually I'm gonna run a 215-40-18.

^^ x2 - car looks awesome Shawn - the combination of GFX front bumper and Euro rear bumper really looks good.

I like the rims too - what are they?
Thanks Ken!
The rims are Masitaly's, I think there really big in the Ford Cougar and VW scene's.
Wow... I don't know what else to say. Those look incredible!
^^^ Thanks man!
Castone I always liked your car, very clean and classy with your mods. Do you have coil overs on it? If yes and you ever deside to sell your car for a decent price let me know as I can kick the VW to the curb as a daily driver and put the ZX3_2NV plates back on the road.
Thanks for the really kind words man, as for coil-overs... not yet.
I have a small list of things I eventually want for it.
Coil-overs
FSWerks turbo
RS Collection rear
Anso black housing(Factory looking) headlights
Well do the coil overs and sell it to me for 3 and change lol

What offset were you running with the 215/45/17? I have a set of 17x7 ET42 wheels I need tires for.

Are those the Euro MP3 wheels? I remember you had a set of bronze wheels on that last, those were really nice. I might prefer them over the 18's.

I absolutely love your focus, and to think all the body parts are OEM. Where did you pick up your Euro Rear? I want one really bad for my black 05.

My bronze rims were Konig hurry's 17x7 with a et40 I had 215-45-17 Michelin pilots.

The 18's are Masitaly roger's, 18x8 et40.

Thanks I only wanted OEM parts cause I wanted things to fit right, and not look out of place.

I got my 99 euro rear from http://www.european-parts.net,
98 Rear
Looking back I wish I had got the RS collection rear instead.
