Transport Canada issues latest recalls
March 2, 2009

Ottawa, Ontario - Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Chrysler, Toyota, Lexus, Maserati, General Motors, Mazda, BMW, Land Rover, Ford and Bentley vehicles.

2006-2007 Toyota Yaris
Vehicles affected: 58,410

On certain 2006-2007 hatchback and 2007 sedan models, the pyrotechnic pretensioner of the front seatbelt assemblies could ignite nearby sound-insulting material if deployed. This could result in a post-collision fire. Dealers will remove the sound insulator.

2007-2008 Mini Cooper S
2009 Mini John Cooper Works
Vehicles affected: 2,192

On certain vehicles, the centrally-located tailpipe extension protrudes slightly beyond the rear bumper, making it possible for inadvertent contact of the hot pipe with a person’s leg. Dealers will replace the tailpipe with a new, shortened version.

2009 Mazda B-Series
Vehicles affected: 209

On certain vehicles, the front spindles may not have received adequate heat treatment during the manufacturing process. The spindle may fracture, allowing the spindle and wheel assembly to separate from the vehicle when it is moving. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the front spindles.

2003-2004-2005 Land Rover Range Rover
Vehicles affected: 656

On certain vehicles, misalignment of the joint between the front differential coupling and the front propeller shaft can cause undue wear to the splines within the coupling. Over time, this could cause the splines to shear, resulting in a loss of drive movement. Dealers will replace the propeller shaft with an updated version.

2004 Toyota Sienna
Vehicles affected: 26,501

On certain vehicles, if the retention clip used to secure the centre console trim panel was not reinstalled following a service repair, the trim piece could interfere with the operation of the accelerator pedal, possibly causing the pedal to become stuck at nearly full throttle. Dealers will replace the trim panel with an updated version that will minimize the risk of interference even if the retention clip is missing for any reason. Note: As this problem results from a servicing issue, it is being handled as a safety improvement campaign, instead of a Notice of Defect.

2009 Bentley Continental Flying Spur
2009 Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed
Vehicles affected: 3

On certain vehicles, the centre rear seatbelt upper guide bracket may distort during a frontal collision. This could result in the occupant travelling further forward than intended. Dealers will deplace the bracket.

2005-2006 Pontiac G6
Vehicles affected: 1,355

On certain vehicles, the brake lamps may not operate properly, due to fretting corrosion in the Body Control Module C2 wiring connector. Corrosion in the connector could cause the brake lamps to illuminate when the brake pedal has not been depressed, or to not illuminate at all. Dealers will apply a dielectric lubricant to repair and prevent corrosion inside the connector.

2009 Ford Ranger
Vehicles affected: 981

On certain 4×2 trucks, the front spindles may not have received adequate heat treatment during the manufacturing process. The spindle may fracture, allowing the spindle and wheel assembly to separate from the vehicle when it is moving. Dealers will inspect the spindle manufacturing date and, if necessary, replace the spindle assembly.

2003-2004-2005-2006-2007-2008 Dodge Ram
Vehicles affected: 4,500

Defective aftermarket steering drag links may have been sold as service replacement parts for 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks. These assemblies may fracture, which could result in loss of control of the vehicle. Also, in some cases, the steering damper attaching bracket may yield and shift on the linkage, restricting the ability to turn the vehicle in one direction. Chrysler will notify owners of all 2003-2008 Dodge Ram heavy-duty trucks (other than those covered by recall 09-010), since those vehicles could potentially have had the affected linkages installed during service. Owners will be instructed to take the vehicle to a dealer for inspection and repair if required.

2005 Dodge Durango
Vehicles affected: 430

On certain vehicles, the fuel tank inlet check valve may not fully close after refuelling. This could allow some fuel to escape from the fuel tank filler tube. Dealers will inspect the check valve and, if required, replace the fuel tank assembly.

2008-2009 Dodge Ram
Vehicles affected: 8,040

On certain 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, the drag link inner tie rod attachment to the pitman arm ball stud may fracture, which could result in loss of control of the vehicle. Also, in some cases, the steering damper attaching bracket may yield and shift on the linkage, restricting the ability to turn the vehicle in one direction. Dealers will replace the drag link inner tie rod assembly. The steering damper will also be inspected and, if necessary, the damper bracket and bolts will be replaced.

2006-2007 Lexus GS 300
2006-2007 Lexus GS 350
2006-2007-2008 Lexus IS 250
2006-2007-2008 Lexus IS 350
2007-2008 Lexus LS 460
2007-2008 Lexus LS 460 L
Vehicles affected: 8,414

On certain vehicles, the use of selected ethanol fuels may cause the aluminum fuel rails to corrode. This could result in plugged fuel injectors, causing a rough engine idle and/or the illumination of the engine warning lamp. Corrosion may also cause a pinhole to develop on the fuel rail, resulting in fuel leakage. Dealers will replace the fuel rails.

2005-2006-2007-2008 Maserati GranTurismo
2005-2006-2007-2008 Maserati Quattroporte S
Vehicles affected: 340

On certain vehicles, the front and rear suspension upper and lower ball joint nuts may have been incorrectly torqued during vehicle assembly. This could allow the nuts to loosen, which may result in a loss of vehicle control. Dealers will vertify tightening torque of the ball joint nuts and, if necessary, replace the suspension arms, ball joints and hub carriers.

2009 Chevrolet Aveo
2009 Pontiac G3 Wave
Vehicles affected: 7,044

On certain vehicles, the hardware that secures the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear may have been incorrectly assembled and could loosen. Should the shaft detach from the steering gear, a loss of steering control would occur. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, correct the assembly.

2009 Mazda6
Vehicles affected: 3,956

On certain vehicles, the outer door handle may bind, preventing the door from latching. This could allow it to swing open while driving. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the outer door handles and related brackets.

2009 Chrysler Town & Country
2009 Dodge Grand Caravan
Vehicles affected: 360

On certain vehicles, an unused electrical connector may become corroded and eventually short circuit, affecting operation of the compass display, rear heater/AC blower, courtesy lamps, and integral flashlight. Should the circuit fuse not blow, the connector could overheat and cause a fire. Dealers will seal the power circuit at the unused connector, and replace the fuse if necessary.

That Ram recall smacks of the same recall they had years ago when they brought in the "new" Ram - 1995 or so IIRC. Those who don't remember the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them, eh Dodge?
crap! No freestyle yet :(

ohh well. Soon it will be there :)
wow.

Looks like Toyota is really having quality issues.

I'm more shocked that they've let the Lexus brand slip. The whole point of the Lexus brand was to be "The Ultimate Luxury Car"

Maybe we should add the following "... that sits in the dealer's garage awaiting repairs"

NefCanuck
Well it looks as if I am going to have to take all 3 of my Bentley's in for repairs.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the recall doesn't apply to the 1/32 scale replica ... just the full size model - so you should be okay.
