So, here are the details of my very first mod for our car.
Please don't laugh (lol) - [I just made myself laugh.]

Start with the material - 1 1/2" elastic, black to match the interior.
Twelve or thirteen inches long - depending on how tight you want it.
(disclaimer: this worked for my 2009; others could be similar)


Sew it with about a half-inch of overlap. (thanks Helen).


Remove the arm rest - four screws.


Remove the arm rest under plate - more screws (4).


Seperate the two pieces and slip the sewn elastic over the arm rest,
seam hidden. Position it properly to miss the screws.
Reinstall the under plate which keeps the elastic in place.


This is what mine looks like - seems useful so far.
No hacking, cutting, glueing.
Enjoy.

Classy update from the elastic band that I currently have.

I should make one of those...only install it on the passenger side headrest to shut people up with.

Give me a clue... what is its purpose?

Probably to solve the same issue I have with my 02. Keep the arm rest closed while in the up position. Right?

But for now...you cud probably use it to keep your girl cuffed to the car if she misbehaves.

Or maybe hold a pen...

I guess it would have to be a pen for me ... my wife doesn't allow me to bring my girlfriend into the car anymore.

Hahaha!! Ken the girl use of that band would be eliminated in your case. But you could always ask your kids to pull that band, and not your hair, when they get frustrated in the car.
So Vince, it's purpose is highly versatile.

What a guy.... He posts this up and leaves us hanging. I change my guess to noose if there was a rope attached.

you could put anything in there, pens, paper/notes, iphone, wallet even...

not so good for the stick shift guys tho
