The short answer is "no" ... for the price of a Cosworth Duratec crate engine you could purchase a brand new or nearly new vehicle with decent performance.
I would buy one for my car, but I'd still like to go boost. Maybe on a 9.0 compression pistons, but if I'd go that far, I'd replace it with 8.0 or 8.5 pistons.

Still looking at the parts book, I might talk to FSW to see if I can get some of the goodies from them. That engine cover looks pretty sweet.

Seriously Oscar ... I'll bet that the 250 hp Cosworth costs close to $20k once you get it here and then there's the installation and tuning costs. And then consider the costs if something breaks. Yikes!

I'd wager that you and Jamie will spend a fraction of that getting the same power out of the engines you have now and with more reliability and less risk of expensive repairs.
Ken,

True enough. But there's always negotiation that can be done. I'd not pay the retail on that whatsoever. Also, whomever I'd get it from, I'd want them to tune it for boost and have that included in the price.

From what I remember, the cost of the 250hp cosworth was something close to $12k without tax/shipping/duty. Plus I wouldn't get a full block assembly, probably a long block and reuse parts from the 2.0L. I think FSW was selling these for under $10k.

But in the end, I don't have $10,000.00 kicking around anyways. So I have to stay at a poor man's 11lbs of boost. Sad

2.3L 280bhp@7700rpm 13:1 compression ratio. Let me guess, it doesn't run on regular?

No, but at that spec I'm sure it shits unicorns and AWESOME. I'd rock it.

Short answer for OP - don't bother. Build your own hi-comp NA motor for a fraction of the cost. CFM has pretty much everything you need.
