My 03 ZX5 is getting close to 100,000km now. Just wondering when it is recommended to get the timing belt/chain done? Not sure if it's a belt or chain I haven't checked. Is the 2L Zetec an interference motor?
Do you have a zetec or duratec motor? I think some 03-04's come with either or. Zetec = Belt Duratec = Chain. I believe both are non Interference motors, so if the belt goes you're still good!
correct zetec motor is non interferance and has a belt...ford recomends replacing it at 160,000kms

The duratec is an interference engine, hence the switch to chain vs belt

According to the "normal" maintenance schedule for my 2003, the timing belt is to be replaced at 120,000 miles which translates to roughly 192,000 km ... so 100,000 km might be a bit early for replacement unless you have reason to suspect it's due to fail.
Guys have had their belts go @ 130. Cant remember if thats just on the SVT or the all foci tho...
