Got a question about some brakes. So my Focus unfortunately has drums in the back. As for the front, do you guys recommend getting ceramic pads, and what kind of rotors have you had good experiences with? I got no clue which route to go down for brakes as I never really got into it too much. CFM has some "Centric" brand rotors and ceramic pads. Anybody have experience with this company?
I should only eventually need to replace the front right? The drums should last a long time?
If you need new pads, go with Hawk HPS or EBC Greenstuff. Hawk HP if you do like to track your car and don't care about wear.
Personally, I went with HPS as I want something that will give me awesome breaking but won't wear out quick.
As for the rears, the drums will take a while before the liners need replacing. When that time comes, might be a good time to look into SVT disks.
Thanks Grouch, I don't think I'll be doing track, just want something decent and something that lasts.. And yeah, I hear you about the SVT swap once my drums go. The only thing is because of my model, I have to make tube like fillers because the on the hub the bolts leave a gap. I talked to FSWerks about it since they did an SVT swap on a SEMA car, they told me the sizes needed and such which is cool.
Hmm, Brembo rotors with Hawk HPS pads? BTW what do "Blanks" mean for rotors? And are the ones that are slotted better? (Sorry about all the questions :)

I don't really plan on getting those, but if the drums wore out, these are the only parts I need to replace to get them working again?
Blanks mean no dots or slots (like in the EBC ones). OEM rotors are "Blanks".
Cross drilled and slotted are better, might have a little more wear on the pads.
For your intensive purposes, if you aren't doing racing, go with Brembo blanks (or other OEM blanks) and some Hawk HPS pads.
Cool, thanks for the info dude!
I see you went with the EBC cross drilled and slotted? heh
Yes. I decided to go with the cross drilled and slotted due to I will be doing some track this year.
Nice.. so you're coming out to dyno day man?
I'm from Sudbury, I go there about 7-8 times a year.. North Bay isn't too far, an around away :) Let's go to Fanny's!! lol
I remember the boys used to do a trip out there once in awhile.
I bought a pair of Centric rotors and Hawk HPS pads for the rear of my SVT last year. CFM was good to deal with and I have no complaints or issues with the pads & rotors so far.
I have Power Slot rotors on the front for about 3 years now , with 2 lapping seasons . So far they hold up well , without warping or signs of wear . Pads wise , I don't think you'd need more than OEM's if you don't track the car . For less dust , ceramic pads are better , but from my experience , they grab better when hot .
