Hey guys, finally posting a build thread. Some of you know me from the constant PM's being sent back in forth, Instagram, Facebook here and there. And i would just like to say thank you to all of you who have helped, and are still helping! I wont name drop, but you guys know who you are!
I bought my Focus in March 2012. Lurked on here for 2 years now, and i am finally getting some progress on my car.
The plan is for the car to be a street/track car, as fast as possible on the stock engine with major suspension upgrades. Battery relocated, lsd, final drive, whole 9 yards.
The car is a 2003 Focus ZX3 Zetec Mtx-75 I picked up for $1400. It was a real steal. Manual doors, mirrors, no ABS or TC. Its a US car so it is a great foundation for a clean build. Must have been from somewhere without snow. No rust!
( I apologize for the old blackberry pics and Iphone pics in advance )
When i bought it it had H&R Race springs, Gaz adjustable shocks, AEM Short ram, and an HKS Hi-power exhaust
After a thorough cleaning it started to look a lot better.
The cars headlights were shot, so i grabbed a clean set of chrome ones, and "cracked and blacked" them.
I them found a Focussport race 4-1 header for a steal locally, and had to have it!
And then painted the valve cover wrinkle black.
I drove the car around for all of 2012, raced it alot, did a crap load of burnouts ( first car )
http://s95.photobucket.com/user/kashusr/...ort=3&o=65
Best ET was 16.3 89mph. Wasnt launching the car just walking it out of the hole, didn't want to break anything lol
I then started to have issues with crank sensors. Don't know if its the main bearing, or the clutch is loose, haven't checked it yet. Went through 3 in 6 weeks.
Well winter of 2012 came, and i was strapped for cash. I didnt have the money for winter tires, or to buy another car, so i took the plunge and drove it. Worst idea ever. Long story short, i went no where. Spun everywhere, hit a couple of curbs, wasn't too fun.
I got to about February of 2013 and the diff blew. Had to be a mixture of burnouts and spinning a lot on the snow. Threw it on blocks and parked it.

As the year started to progress i said i would just yank the motor and tranny, and paint the car. Started stripping the car down all myself in the driveway. Took off as much as possible to ensure it was going to be painted correctly. I was always taught do it right or dont do it at all. Anyways long story short again, i got screwed by one painter. He did one of the, next week next week things for about 4 months. Didnt send the car to paint until September 2013.
Found a clean set of SVT bumpers and side skirts and had to have them.
Rs replica spoiler
As said the plan for this car is to be a street/track car. So i grabbed a set of Moroso remote terminals, and mounted them. It will be finished with a carbon plate after paint.
Finally sent the car to the painter. It will have color matched body moldings, mirror caps, hatch trim, and door handles.
While the car was gone i started to create a stock pile of parts for the car. I still have so much to buy too !:bang::bang::bang:
SVT front a rear brakes( will be getting a full rebuild )
Steeda Drivers and Passenger poly mounts
Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch
Steeda 28.6mm Rear Sway bar
Euro grilles(lower was bought before i bought SVT parts, guess that's for sale aha)
Ford parts order
Cfm Power steering hose relocation
MFactory Helical LSD
CFM PCV delete
Ford racing push button start and tow hooks
This is how the front tow hook will be mounted. Have to fabricate a bracket and mount it to the bumper beam.
Rear will be mounted like my buddies Fiesta
I then pieced together clean, and i mean clean SVT interior. Grabbed everything i could to do the full swap.
SVT gauge bezel. Where the AUX gauges were will be a Scangauge II on a carbon plate like alot of the RS guys do across the pond.
Since the battery is going in the back, i figured i would wire in a kill switch. It will be in the drivers left vent. I mounted a piece of steel to the vent with some jb weld. It needs more work to be cleaner, then painted in block. I will be making another for the wideband gauge also.
Steeda short throw shifter
Had to throw in the push button start for fun!:banana:

That pretty much brings us up to all of the painters pictures. The car was full of dents, absolutely no rust, but alot of dents. They were all pulled and smoothed out. Color is Sonic Blue! It should be done in the next month or so, then reassembly!
And some shots with color!:thumbup::thumbup:

That brings us up until today. I want to get this car as fast as possible with little engine work as possible first. To get a feel for the car, suspension, transmission, and improve from there. Once i have a firm grasp on the circuit i will do a bolt on NA build, or a turbo build.
Still waiting for the car to come back. I have bought majority of the small items, now i need to get the big ones. I most likely wont have the big stuff for a couple months. First track day is in May, im hoping to be done by June.
