I have to say go with the Ford Edge ... I bought a 09 Edge Limited AWD in November and love it. Its super comfy and has TONS of room inside. I don't think the Sport model is worth the extra 4-5K as the 20's that come on the Limited ride really nice with minimal noise and if you plan on getting a new set of rims down the road you can just use the stock ones for the winter.
if you can wait till September-ish the 2011 edge's are getting the ecoboost engine and it will have the new MyFord Interface System to go along with the Sync

Audi I would say A3 great car but $$$
Ford Edge sport hell no way to much money for just 22' rims and some chrome and the car has no balls. The edge does drive smooth.
The 2010 Fusion I like.
VW Passat is nice and the VW wagon
Mazdaspeed hatch or the 6 the mazda suv is nice.
Nissan cube with some deep dish rims and a big stretch.
Subaru sti hatch
64 Chevy Impala candy apple red with daytons and white walls lots of room for making the kids lol.
Good luck on the car search

Quote:Sort of the same issue I have with the seats in my Fusion. Great seats to sit in but yeesh almost nil lateral support when you're pushing it. The redesigned seats in the '10 Fusion certainly seemed better at holding you in place, at least from the passenger side.well , do something , the 2010 SVTOA is " just " around the corner :D
Hrm, I wonder if '10 seats would be a bolt in swap, interesting...

Can NON-Ford vehicles sign up for SVTO?
02-08-2010, 01:40 AM
I would say yes , because last year we had mostly Ford but also Mazdaspeed 3 (instructor's car ), Mazda Miata , Subaru STI (this guy previously had a Contour souped up for track ) , VW Golf , Mitsubishi Evo .

Taurus SHO, Flex Limited ECOBOOST, Fusion Sport AWD...all great choices...
The Edge, while Gucci inside and nice looking overall, I felt the stock brakes were far overburdened by the weight of the vehicle, especially at highway speed. I also felt that you really had to work the engine and transmission to make it move with a sense of urgency (this was compared to a GMC Envoy Denali with the 5.3L V8 we test drove on the same day).
I think an Escape Limited might be worth looking at, or, if you can wait, the next Gen Explorer is coming out in the near future...

With Ford's current promotion "Sync My Ride" they will "include" the SYNC system if you buy a new car (Whether that means if you take what's on the lot they'll simply credit you the cost of thesystem I have no idea but I would imagine so)
Bear in mind however that Canadians don't get all the benefits of the SYNC system (No Vehicle Health Status Reports or SIRIUS Travel Link) but what we do get is pretty sweet nonetheless. I'll never go without it in any future Ford I buy :D

Installed as it was from the factory? No, but Ford by now may have finally released the SYNC upgrade kit that would give you SYNC functionality (But from the photos I've seen looks like absolute ass with wires in plain view)
Better off tracking a used Edge with SYNC installed in it IMO, aside for possibily having to pay to upgrade it to v.2.1 you'd be set then (The last user installable upgrade is to v.1.3, if you want the 911 option that's a dealer only install)

or do what i did with my suby. I got a pioneer unit that does all that stuff. Its amazing, voice command works great, ipod connectivity, rear view camera, hands free calling, GPS, etc, etc....its nice to just push a button and say 'Call 613 446 5555' , or 'Change source to FM Radio" and it does it. Freinds always get a kick out of it.

I got mine for sale, $699, but you can find them a lot cheaper now. The camera was $199, the ipod connection was $50, i got the one for the touch so I can play videos on camping trips and such...i got the satelite radio option also, which was another $100. You dont have to get all that stuff, espcially with the ipod, but I fell in love with sat radio when I got it for my BMW, so i think all my cars from now on will have it...
I have back up cam because my wife has issues with reverse.

^^^Sounds interesting. Im gonna take a look at one.

I'll see if I can do a video review, its a cool little unit and I can see why Ford's system gets great reviews...all cars should have these things.

found one for $400 but without cam
