how big is the sender unit? I put a few in, all the electronic ones were a pain because the senders where HUGE!

i have a mechanical gauge in my car. i think you should use some of that teflon tape stuff on the threads when you put the fitting into the block, and when you put the fitting into the gauge. the key is that you don't want any oil leaking out!
you have to figure out which oil galley to tap into.. usually there's a bolt that you can back out, and then replace with the fitting that goes to the sender (electric) or the gauge (mech). sorry i can't help you with where to tap, i'm using a sube not a focus.
I also have one, was a B!TCH after it was installed I cracked the line going to the sending unit and dripped oil everywhere all they way to the shop thankfully it was pretty close. So becareful and make sure its very secure.
im gonna post some pics, and maybe you can help me out, I do have the huge sender unit...
if i remember correctly, (going off my friends escort zx2 zetec, same block, dif head) there is an oil hole tapped on the back of the motor, under the intake manifold. judging by the size of the sender, i dunno if it will fit. ill wait for flo, hardkore or zx3 2nv to chime in on this since they this motor better.
but on my friends motor, thats where he ran his feed line from to the turbo.
Look slike it *May* fit where zx5 is saying. Pretty sure you will need a 'T' Tap and screw that in the back of the block...
This is a pic of teh spot...my stock sensor is still plugged in because I used the t tap.

yeah i knew about the part but i wanted to avoid buying it if i could but for convenience sake thats what im gonna do...and i continually debate turbo... but is it the 18mm thread?
that's an interesting product.
that design is really similar to the oil cooler that the WRX uses. same exact idea.. a ring that goes between the block and the oil filter.. except instead of a gauge sender unit there are hardlines going to and from the rest of the cooling system, so coolant flows through and cools the oil as it goes through the filter
someone should retrofit that setup onto other cars.. it could be a cheap alternative to an aftermarket oil cooler

its actually a part out of their oil cooler kit that they sell elsewhere on the site
OMG it's a sandwich adapter.. they've been around since the oil filter!
this by far the best way to:
ad an oil cooler
ad an oil temp or presure guage
or relocate an oil filter for easy changing... like mine is going where the stock air box should be using somthing like this...

does anyone know the thread size of the oil filter? I need to choose which sandwich i need to buy!!!
I have mocal oil filter relocation adapters if your interested in going that route. Take that to PM if your interested.
I believe the filter thread is 3/4"UNF
