I logged into Focus Canada and over half the new topics on the opening page are spam posts for porn.
Is there a way to stop this crap? This site is becoming NSFW with just the new topic listing on page 1.
Can there be restrictions put on new members so that they can not post anything after signing up for at least 24 hours?
Or perhaps, move the new topics listing to a second page?
Yeah, over the past year it has been getting worse and worse. I think something needs to be done.
What I do on my forum is moderate new users.
its not happening just to this site....alot of other car/bike forums get even more
I posted a topic about it in the moderator coffee room a week ago.
still no response.
Puppet?
Done about 7 since last week. Its getting bad DP!!!
one option would be requiring people who sign up to fully fill in their profile with ligit citys and provinces / states, and to check in with the noob post things for lerkers.

I'm not a computer guru, but my buddy (on his board) switched over to I think it's called 'phpBB' bulletin board or something to that affect to stop all the spamming and porn posts.
Like I said. If you moderate new registrations it eliminates 85% of the spammers, since most of them don't use imaginative choices for usernames...
