-sigh- and this proves yet again that Ford NA has no freakin' clue how to market small cars in the N.American market...

Platform re-integration with the European design teams at the lead at the next major re-do is the only hope the Focus has of surviving in N. America after the "new" reskin we get this year <_<

This reskin was already engineered before they pulled forward the global platform in a couple years. As much as you dislike it, many others hate our version even more. For 90% of the car buying population, it looks "different enough".
I'm still happier the 2007 CDN-spec looks more like the Euro models than the 2008 crack pipe-a-thon.

I know that the '08 reskin was on the books long before the change in direction was made (decisions on model makeovers are usually three to four years in advance of the actual changes unless something is horribly off with the current model... Hello Five Hundred ;))

But I'll wager a case of beer that says you throw ten average people off the street in a room with a current gen model (05-07) with what's coming and ask them to tell you which looks better on the outside and I'll say 7 out of 10 pick the 05-07 as the better looking car... (Of course if we're talking interior, I'd say the numbers would be inverted, with most approving of the interior redo)

i'm just glad that i bought my 07 when i did. ew.

I think you're biased Dan, the exact same "ewww" reaction was made by the pre-'05 owners about our models.

Of course, we'll have to see what the sales have to say.

Okay, I'll agree that I'm fanboying here for the soon to be departed N.A. Focus Mk. 1.5 but the 05 makeover was in no way the radical departure from what came before that the 08 looks to be.... and again I do like the interior of the refreshed 08. I just wished they had been a little less, I dunno, "busy" with the exterior...

"A new Focus ECOnetic edition features a 109-horsepower 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine with particulate filter that has ultralow CO2 emissions and returns 54 mpg. The European Focus also can be ordered with a variety of gas and diesel engines."

I wish we had this here!! Ive been wanting a diesel focus for a long time.
are there any cars that only we get in NA? mustang, GT500,etc to make up for all the stuff we don't get overseas?

Best looking N.A. Focus is the 05-07, and the 00-04 interior.
