I'm thinking about doing a front and back SVT brake swap on my 2009 in the spring. Anybody here do this conversion? About what did it cost you at the end? About 1000 bucks?
john (scorcher) did this a little while ago, he should be able to shed some light as well as ken since he sells the stuff lol. and ill totally jump in on this when you do it chad since i got some dough to spend now lol.

I've done it a couple of times and I have the kits ready to do it again once I have purchased my track Focus ... John (Scorcher) has also done the rears ... shouldn't cost that much for your car as the front kit is cheaper (SVT brakes use the same front hub as the 05+) ... I always had a mechanic do it, so it took more than a grand, but if you do it yourself, your budget sounds about right.
whats a ballpark for just the rear..

i met a guy with a zx3 in a parking lot (lol) it had rear disk he told me any focus i think 05ish ST with rear disk would swap over.

thats just what he sead i never looked into it.

i want my next focus to have rear disk thow ;)
i did the swap too all in i think the rear kit came to like 670 if memorey serves right this is going back a year or so ago

^^ It's true ... but here's the catch - the only way this makes sense is if you can find the parts used and cheap ... the kits that Ford sells are a fraction of the cost of all the parts if you were to buy them individually.

The other thing (not a big thing, really) is that the rear discs from the 05+ ST are slightly smaller than the SVT rear discs.

LOL they are more than slightly smaller after my brain fart pruchase of 05 ST front and rear Cross Drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads lol.

Anywho....

The kit only cost me the cost of Ken's price plus a bottle of DOT 4 brake fluid, and the cost of 2 Front SS braded Focus lines and 2 Rear SS custom 20" braded lines with Ford fittings.

You will need a 30mm and a 32mm socket for the huds because my older nutz were smaller than my new SVT nutz (haha if your mind is in the gutter then laugh)

You will need a breaker bar along with atleast 180FT torque of arm strength. Or a nice strong air gun running above 120PSI.

jack stands, jacks, socket set, rivet gun, ext...

I have pics some where in the "How To" section on the forum. (I can't seem to find it so I will post it up again tonight if anyone can't locate it on here)

Awesome guys, thanks for the info. Especially regarding the front hub 05+.
Next project!
Cool, thanks dude!
There seems to be some fitment issues for the 2008-2009 platform.
According to CFM's site:

Note: 2008 and 2009 will require some work to make it fit. The kit would require longer custom brake lines to be made in the rear. The svtf rear brake lines supplied will not fit. The rear bolt for the spindle are smaller than the original 2008 to 2009 bolts, so when the smaller bolt are placed through the bolt hole there is some gap. The washer style space or sleeve will be needed to fill in the gap.

I'm not sure I like that too much... Doesn't seem to be a big deal, but I feel more comfortable with the operation of something when it fits like a glove.
a sleeve seem perfectly safe.

:D
Yeah, it's not a big deal really.
I just like when things swap out and swap in with what is supplied in the kit :)

How long was this job for you guys?
this might b off topic but what is difference btw rally brake kit and svt brake kit??
is it true you cannot go smaller than 16" wheel??

Rally brake kit gets you the standard front brakes from the 05+ (10.9" rotor) and the SVT kit gets you the SVT front brakes (11.8" rotor) - you can go 15" rims with the Rally kit and IIRC some 16" rims will fit over the SVT brakes.

I believe you can't go below 17"...

As for the brake lines I said you need to get custom 20-25" lines done.
As for the bolts. I'm not sure what they mean, Everything bolted up smoothly so I can't figure out what spacer you need. Can you send a link or a pic???
I think what they mean is the bolts on 2008+ are smaller, so they won't go in snug. There will be a space, so they say to put a washer behind it so it eliminates the spacing.
