Transport Canada Issues Latest Recalls.
July 14, 2007

Ottawa, Ontario - Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Nissan and Volkswagen vehicles, and Michelin motorcycle tires.

2007 Nissan Altima
Vehicles affected: 9,284

On certain vehicles, if a sufficiently hot object such as a cigarette ash enters the air filter housing through the engine fresh-air intake system, the air filter may ignite. This could result in an under-hood fire. Dealers will replace the air filter with a revised version possessing improved anti-flammability characters, and install an air deflector in front of the air intake opening to reduce debris intake.

2006 Volkswagen Jetta
Vehicles affected: 3,000

Certain vehicles may have a small plastic tab located on the windshield washer fluid reservoir that may chafe against the under-hood fuel supply line, which could cause a fuel leak over time. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the under-hood fuel supply line. As a preventative measure, dealers will also remove the plastic tab.

2004-2006 Michelin Pilot Power 120/70ZR17
2005-2007 Michelin Pilot Power 2CT 120/70ZR17
Vehicles affected: 1,825

On certain motorcycle tires, adhesion is reduced in a localized area between the tread rubber and the underlying textile reinforcement ply. After sustained operation at speeds exceeding 250 km/h, this can manifest itself as localized deformation, vibration, or pieces of tread tearing out. Dealers will replace affected tires. Note that only tires manufactured in France are affected.
