My engine bay in the focus looks like an oily slop job, mainly from sloppy oil changes done in my garage. I was wondering what method should be taken to clean that engine bay without destroying all the components under the hood.
In the transam I usualy put a shopping bag over my alternator, distributor and throttle body. Do these steps also apply for the focus before I go to town on it with a degreaser chased with a water spraydown?

Pressure washer & soap...
Here's my beater ( last fall ) before and after pics..
I always love those pics...can beleive someone will let the engine bay become so dirty..
I know there is still some rust but at least we can see the motor... :P
what parts did u have to cover with the preassure wash? (battery?)
I covered the Alternator and that was it... I sprayed the heck out of it... I'm ready to do it again after one winter of daily driving but it's not even close at what it was when I bought it...
...How.. the hell.. did you get it that dirty......
It costed me $3500.00 to get it like that... :P
It's my beater but yes I agree with you how can you do it ...
Can we agree that was a good mod ? Does it look better or what...

Next time.... It wouldn't hurt to wrap up your MAF sensor, coil and fuse box.
ESPECIALLY if your blasting the piss out of it with a pressure washer!
