Pfff.... I Raced (with escort) against a guy with a same car as my ZX3 and it was tight !! And at the 1/4 Mile my escort gt did 16.2

More torque in the Focus?

Close to the same hp 127 for the escort 130 for the focus, but the focus has almost 20 lb/ft of torque more. That might explain something right there.

couldnt some better motor mounts fix this problem?

I replaced all 3 mounts and have limited wheel hop now.

Yep, it's wheel hop. The curse of the one-legged diff.

I think my 98 ZX2 had more power or at least better throttle response than my focus.

I have driven my buddies 2000 zx2 sr with some mods, and still my 2001 focus wagon seems to feel faster . The sr had wheel hop and the wagon didnt. My 2005 duratec gets wheel hop also so it is pretty normal for a fwd car to have it.
