today i drove home from work just fine.
parked on my driveway went inside for 5 mins and went back into my car to go somewhere
anyways my gas pedal started to feel so stiff at the top when i press on it...i mean i have to press hard enough on it now that all of a saden it goes back to be normal (smooth) that i end up doing some burn outs....
but when the car is off the pedal goes down smooth
any advise on this one?
It's a common problem with the foci. Mine is sticky in the cold too. I'm on my second throttle body because of it. I'm not aware of a fix for it.
mine is a FC 65mm so that would F&^* suck
would it be cuz of the spring on tb?
It is a common problem with FC throttle bodies.
It only happens when it is damp and between 0 degrees and 3 degrees C. I think it is the difference between the expansion of the 2 different types of metal in the TB (Aluminum body and brass butterfly) at these temperatures and humidity.
The pedal feels sticky when the pedal is first depressed, then fine after the throttle is open, but sticks again when you off the gas. Almost as if the butterfly gets fat when it is horizontal.
It plays havoc when you are trying to make smooth shifts.
Mine has just started to do this also, and mine is stock. Is there an oil that can be applied to the inside on the TB to prevent this sticking?
I have a FC TB too.
This Fixed it for me.
I added a little Stronger Spring And Tightened the Idle Screw a little more.
Tighten the screw just to the point of the idle climbing, Then back it of a little.
This This fix has worked on 3 Foci so far.
If you want me to take a look at it Nick, Swing by My Place... Im in Acton Now Not guelph.
