Hey all.

I just received my CFM Adjustable short shifter in the mail.

its a quality part, but the instructions lack mega.

has anyone done a short-shifter install on a 2000-2002.5 MTX75 that can basically help me out? step by step?

thanks
~lorne
This is for the B&M, but should be similar.

Short shifter
be very carefull with the "flower" sharp plastic when you remove the old one, it is very easy to break. Other than that it should only take you about an hour.
Yeah it's not overly difficult, I installed the Steeda short shifter in my 2000-02.5 ZX3 and everything went really smoothly. You just have to be careful of that one retaining clip thing since it's easy to break.
the new B&M's comes with the spare clip. I guess too many ppl broke them and needed one

these short shifters actually imporve your guys driving, or is it more of a cosmetic addition.

allows for a longer burnout in your driveway :D
i like my cosmo short shifter....if it was for cosmetic i wouldn't go but it does give me a sporty feeling of changin gears.....its really up to the person how they like it.....i've met some guys with supercharged focus's and they had a stock shifter cuz they didn't like it too short

No, but traction assisted running shoes will help when you need to push your car. Ask Flo. He knows where to get them.
I seriously gotta start subscribing to my own threads...

yeah I bought the C-F-M one mainly because it is adjustable. I bought a new shift knob and it heightened the shifter so I want to bring it down a tiny bit below stock height.

I mean, I've installed my own damn supercharger, and Im getting bested by a short shifter!

maybe I will just order a new retainer clip and just break mine out of spite.

Damn you make me laugh. I love it!

Yep the small "flower" retainning clip is fragile. The shift are better, the shifter is a good buy. But that stupid retaining clip sucks ass, if you can buy one just in case you brake it. I still have the factory knob on but I never like it in the first place, so I got the steeda one on the way.

CAA is the s***.
I think the stock shifter is a lot longer than it needs to be. The short shifter gives the car more of a sporty feel when you're driving I think.. and as for cosmetics, it does look a lot better not sticking up so high.

people I know tell me they hate driving the focus because of the gearbox.

I tell them $100 changes that, and they shut up.
I love mine!! Other than the turbo and suspension, one of the best mods!
