Just called Apple Auto Glass in Burlington to have my tinting removed this week. I figured I wouls swing over Friday afternoon to have it done on my way home.....

$225.00

Is that not a bit high?
That seems like the price to remove and re-tint....

Why would you want your tint removed?

TINT REMOVAL DIY
Reading closer it looks like you have to sandwich the tint between black bags and soapy water. Get it good and hot and peel away with amonia.

Could I not do the same with my heat gun? would it not save a whole whack of time.

Second question....do you guys think "GOO-GONE" will work on tint adhesive?

I'll do a good write up for you guys when I decide to tackle this job.

Only issue I could see with the heat gun is that you might crack the glass if you aren't careful, otherwise I would agree that the heat gun might be an option...

Unsure about whether Goo-Gone can get rid of the tint adhesive. Tint adhesive once cured is pretty tough stuff...

^^^my biggest worry.

Having an adhesive stuck to my windows I can't get off.

get laquer thinner. Guranteed to remove tint/tint adhesive and any plastic in the near vicinity.

I've watched guys retint my windows before.. didn't seem too difficult for them to remove the tint and reapply..
Adhesive, no problem. Get a small can of Goo-Gone and it will take off any glue! Crappy Tire sells it!
Got mine removed in my GTI for $20. Can't remember the name of the place though. I think it was in brampton at Steeles & Bramalea Road.

If you clear enough space in your garage and run a space heater at least two hours before hand, I'll bet you get the temperature in that garage up to the mid twenties n/p

My advice... do it yourself. It's not like you're worrying about scratching the tint.. you want it to get the heck off your windows. That's more than what I paid to have my tint done in the first place
It's the rear window I'm worried about.

Maybe I'll do all the other ones and then take the rear to the pros.
