Ford said it will buy the Rover name from BMW, which sold the Land Rover sport-utility vehicle business to Ford in 2000, The Associated Press reported.
Ford was granted the right of first refusal for the Rover name when it bought the Land Rover, and when BMW said last month that it had agreed to sell the Rover brand for an undisclosed sum to an unidentified buyer, Ford exercised its right to buy the name.
Ford declined to say what it will pay for the name.
