changed my fuel filter over the weekend (with Nass's assistence by my side, thank you very much), it was my first time changing it since i bought the car......i decided to change it because i wasn't getting good milege on full tank of gas
anyways when we took out the filter, so much freackin dirt came out from one end it was gross....and looked like it was never been changed in all 177k, thats how dirty it was
prob took us 40 mins to switch from old to new
so put a new one in and the car feels a lil bit better on driving...not a day and night but there's a difference......just have to see how my milege is going to be now
Yeah, I recently changed my fuel filter...not only was it completely rusted, but it leaked rust as well.... Almost got gas in my eye too.
Thank god for safety glasses.
Real men use personal protective equipment. :D
yep, I change it every year.

yea true....i had to put some safety glasses on as well....
done it twice, very easy to do and i beleive its recomended to do every 20,000kms
maybe you should post a "how to"......this is one of those treads where you say you waxed your car and its now shiny, but you dont post any pics to show anyone the outcome or how you got it to shine so nice.

zx5focused (or nass, cant rememeber) wrote a how to for this. I think nikiter was just trying to tell us how easy it was.
you know at first i was thinking of taking pictures, but then we had my car on 2 ramps and there wasn't as much room plus my and nass's hands were gettin dirty and covered in gas...just didn't feel like gettin my camera all dirty....plus it was my first time.....next year i will def will take pics(before someone will) since i know what im doing now
so the filter was change or just cleaned?

needs to be changed, there is no way to clean it. its not that expensive anyway and should be considered regular maintenance
oh ok .. was just wondering caus i remember when everyone had bad fuel pumps, people would make like a trap door to easily remove, clean (every month or so) and reinstall the filter instead of changing it all the time
i got my at partsource for $18
and for my toaurus it cost $12
I think it was only $14 the last time I purchased one from the dealer.
yea find partsource is not the cheapest place as they say they are
I had mine replaced the last time the car was in for an oil change... I think Ford's price (to me) was $16 or something like that. I'm trying to remember to change it every 20K now.

How much did they charge you to change it?
I think I posted something when I did mine... but I could be wrong. It's really simple.
The reason it took us 40 minutes is because I had to run home and get my ramps and we didn't have the right tools :) If anyone else wants to change this let me know and I will be your supervisor.
^^^ by the way i bought a pair of rams at partsource on sale for $29.99
they are regular like $54 somethin
Yeah i know its easy to drive your car up on ramps , but please guys , jack your car up and use jack stands , ive heard of far to many horror stories with ramps collapsing and ppl getting crushed. Either that or brake systems going and having the car roll right on top of them, generally relying on brakes to keep your car away from you and on the ramps is not the best idea
Trust my life to 24.99 ramps and a ford ebrake cable ? I think not.
