Transport Canada issues latest recalls
sept. 13. 2009
Ottawa, Ontario - Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Land Rover, Kia, Subaru, Mazda, Toyota, Audi and Volkswagen vehicles.
2009 Land Rover Range Rover
Vehicles affected: 12
Certain vehicles may have inadequate windshield adhesive bonding. This may result in a windshield bond that does not meet retention requirements, and may not be retained during a vehicle crash. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, remove and reinstall the windshield correctly.
2001-2004 Kia Magentis
Vehicles affected: 7,713
On certain vehicles operated in areas of heavy road salt usage (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador), road salt can collect in the rear portion of the side members of the subframe. This may result in internal corrosion, leading to thinning or perforation of the subframe steel, and ultimately, to separation of the lower control arm at the forward mounting point to the subframe. In most cases, when separation occurs, the movement of the arm will pull the axle out of the transaxle, leaving the vehicle with no power to its drive wheels. In extreme cases, the wheel can also rotate off its designed axis and contact the fender or wheel well. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the front subframe assembly. Should it not require replacement, drainage holes will be added, along with treatment of rustproofing material to arrest the corrosion process.
2005-2006 Subaru Baja
Vehicles affected: 172
On certain vehicles, the fuel pump nipple may develop cracks, and leak. Dealers will replace the fuel pump bracket, including the nipple, with an updated version.
2010 Mazda3
Vehicles affected: 5,738
On certain vehicles, a part of the headlight housing where the daytime running light (DRL) bulb is attached may be damaged by heat from the bulb when the vehicle is left idling for an extended period, or while driving in slow-moving traffic. In the worst case, the housing may be deformed, resulting in bulb detachment. Dealers will repair the housing.
2010 Land Rover LR4
Vehicles affected: 10
On certain vehicles, one of the two rollover valves fitted to the top of the fuel tank may have been incorrectly installed. This could result in illumination of the malfunction indicator lamp, a fuel odour, or a fuel leak. All vehicles will be held at the port of entry, where replacement fuel tanks will be fitted. No affected vehicles have been distributed to dealerships or owners.
2010 Toyota Corolla
Vehicles affected: 1,157
On certain vehicles, the driverââ¬â¢s side airbag caution label can separate from the sun visor, in violation of a requirement that the label be permanently affixed. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the sun visor.
2009-2010 Audi A3
2009-2010 Audi TT
2009-2010 Audi TT Roadster
2009-2010 Volkswagen Eos
2009-2010 Volkswagen GTI
2009-2010 Volkswagen Jetta
2009 Volkswagen Jetta Wagon
Vehicles affected: 2,700
On certain vehicles equipped with a Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), the wiring harness of a temperature sensor in the transmission may have connector wires that were insufficiently crimped during assembly. The sensor could falsely detect a high gearbox oil temperature, causing the transmission to abruptly shift into the Neutral position, with resulting loss of propulsion. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the temperature sensor.
