All I have to say is..
If that is the one NefCanuck has... don't get it! I'm sure we all remember the fall cruise ;) hehe
I'm actually looking into getting myself a GPS.. so I'd be interested in what people have to say.
i like those ones with a gps receiver that broadcasts over bluetooth and overlays on mapping software in your laptop. nice and cheap too
I considered a laptop one, and Hardk0re was raving about MS Streets and Trips 2006 with the receiver. I don't wanna lug the lappy :(

You could always tuck the laptop away somewhere and run a touch screen of it. Say something like this:
http://www.mp3car.com/store/product_info.p...products_id=136
Then you'd have the small size of a portable GPS but also all the extra functions of the laptop. Personally if i was gonna get GPS for the car this would be the route i would go.

I re-purposed my Jornado 540 and added OSTIA software and GPS receiver from Pharos and love it.
It was dirt cheap (PDA was sitting in the drawer) but the software is full-featured and very accurate. All street maps for NA fit on 32mg card. Works great in the car or the boat and I take it with me when I travel for use in rental cars.
