GM To Recall About 400,000 Pickup Trucks
Associated Press - May 2, 2006

GM said some vehicles may permanently lose brake-lamp function or have brake lamps that are always on. On vehicles with cruise control, that function also becomes inoperative.

GM spokesman Alan Adler said the company was not aware of any crashes resulting from the problem.

General Motors Corp. is recalling about 400,000 pickup trucks due to defective brake lights. The affected vehicles are the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon from the 2004-2006 model years and the 2006 Isuzu i-280 and i-350.
Dealers will replace the brake lamp switch assembly in the affected vehicles at no charge.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration contacted GM to inquire about the issue after receiving three complaints, and the company issued the recall in response, Adler said.

GM notified NHTSA of the recall in a letter dated Friday.

This make me wonder how many hundreds or even thousands of customer complaints GM ignored leading up to the recall.

when money is at stake you only listen to and respond to those that can force you to do things. So lets see todays totals for recalls:

GM trucks: 400,000
Chrysler cars: 45,000
Jeep: 7,000
Ford: TBA
Toyota: 160

:huh:

Mind you we need to take into account how many cars in total for each recall, cause 400,000 out of 3 million kinda isn't that much but still it's 400,000 units.
