this might be an ATX issue. Sometime my car doesn't down shift to 1st even with the pedal depressed. It feels like the car is bogging because the car doesn't have enough power to launch from 2nd. Seem's like a kick down problem. The biggest problem is that the focus do not have a kickdown cable. downshift is initiated by throttle position which is read by the tps. From the tps the signal is then transmitted to the pcm which in turn shifts the car to the appropriate gear.
