i m from out of provinces/states, and haven't seen license plate covers; smoke, blue and clear, what is the purpose of putting those in?

RE: Purple Fog lights are in! - Mystake - 01-31-2011

mine is smoke tinted and i only have it on the back. it protects from dirt, mostly.

and it blends in with my car so i think it looks nicer.

RE: Purple Fog lights are in! - OAC_Sparky - 01-31-2011

I have 2 different personalized license plates. When it costs $100 to restamp a new one you want to keep it covered so that it doesn't pit, chip or rust as quickly.

RE: Purple Fog lights are in! - Silver Fox - 02-01-2011

I have pink ones, on the front and back, I got them for protection and just to add some style lol

RE: Purple Fog lights are in! - Focus man. Focus. - 02-01-2011

Blue on the front and clear on the rear for me. Probably switching the front to yellow to match my head/fog lights. Also the front is currently cracked to rat s**t.

RE: Purple Fog lights are in! - SL8RZZX3 - 02-01-2011

i have smoked covers on all my cars.... $4each at Wal-mart Big Grin

I had Purple ones.... but got busted and had to remove on the spot

RE: Purple Fog lights are in! - Silver Fox - 02-01-2011

aha really ? that sucks.. I've had my pink ones on for months and never once has a cop stopped me. Well its not like my plate isn't legible so maybe that's why Tongue

RE: Purple Fog lights are in! - Mystake - 02-01-2011

see that's how I felt, mine IS legible. Sure, it's a BIT harder to see cause its smoked but that's what the plate lights are for.

The cop that pulled me over was just being a dink (no typo). He even checked my tint. I think it had to with it being Aurora, I'm sure I'd get pulled over more often if I were there more.

Again, it's a subjective call, but it is in the HTA:

All the cop has to say is that he had a hard time reading your plate. Sucks, but that's the way it is.

Like I said, I have a personalized plate on my Focus and I have a new plate for the new car.

When personal plates cost $270 the first time and $100 to restamp and replace when they look ratty, I cover mine too. You just have to use common sense.

My covers are smoked, but barely; you can still read the plate easily and I keep the cover clean so it doesn't dirt or salt over. It's only smoked enough to take the glare off the plate, if you hold it up to the light it you almost can't tell it's tinted. I've seen people apply window tint to their covers and then they wonder why they don't make it 24 hours without getting pulled over ...

Meaford (the town) is about 30 km northwest of Collingwood on the shores of Georgian Bay.

Meford (our friend and internet troll) when he isn't painting our favourite Ford product is probably on a snowmobile trail somewhere talking trash and giving s**t to people.

See, he hasn't been on for so long I forgot how to spell his name. Is the ice strong enough to hold his weight and ego? I am sure he would love to chime in on this conversation. I miss BrYan. LOL

I got a ticket of $110 for a burned headlight.....The kicker is I showed the cop a brand new bulb in the package and told him that I was going to swap them as soon as I get home. He was just like "Ok, sit tight".....comes back with a ticket....
Sometimes I just hate cops....

Do you have working driving lights and were they on? ie did you have at least one white light on each front corner?
The reason I'm asking is this:

Quote:62. (1) When on a highway at any time from one-half hour before sunset to one-half hour after sunrise and at any other time when, due to insufficient light or unfavourable atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly discernible at a distance of 150 metres or less, every motor vehicle other than a motorcycle shall carry three lighted lamps in a conspicuous position, one on each side of the front of the vehicle which shall display a white or amber light only, and one on the rear of the vehicle which shall display a red light only. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (1).
Meaning, if you have white driving lights on the front of your car it doesn't matter if you have a burnt out headlight and you can fight it. As long as they can be seen from 150M away.
That's the law he's ticketing you for. Make sure you take a pic of the front of your car with just the fogs/driving lights on for proof.
