According to the OP the Focus RS starts at ã24,995 OTR -- that compares to: WRX STi from ã26,039 OTR STi UK price here Mitsu Lancer EVO from ã26,912 OTR EVO UK price here Focus Rs - NOS2Go4Me - 12-19-2008 So if they priced the Focus like the EVO and STI... insta-fail. Both cars mop the floor with it. Subaru pricing: http://www.subaru.ca/WebPage.aspx?WebPageI...9&WebSiteID=282 Mitsubishi pricing: http://mitsubishi-motors.ca/Lancer_Evoluti...volution_offers Price the RS around $35000 and you might have something. Even then it's still competing with the WRX265: http://www.subaru.ca/WebPage.aspx?WebPageI...9&WebSiteID=282 - scroll to bottom. I haven't seen any head to head comparisons yet - and previous RS on the track at least have bested both the Subaru and EVO ... on what are you basing the mopping. Focus Rs - NOS2Go4Me - 12-19-2008 Price and buyer mentality. The tech has changed for both the EVO and the STI of late... dramatically in some cases (DSGs, advanced stability and torque management, etc). A FWD car with 300HP is just not going to keep up with the STI, nevermind the EVO unless there's some serious shenanigans going on under the sheetmetal. The old EVOs were "AWD and add some more HP, fatten the powerband" a bit more each generation. The EVO X is something else, entirely, compared to its predecessor. Ironically, they seem to have softened up the STI some... so perhaps a UK-spec Focus RS might best it once again. As far as the 06-07 STi goes... not a chance in hell. Sad eh? The last-gen STI is faster and tighter than the new model. Oh wait, does that sound ANYTHING like a certain domestic sport compact (that is no longer really a SPORT compact)??? Sorry about the whipping, fellas. I love the Focus... just not the new NA-spec stuff. Altho, I saw (what I presume was) an '09 Focus coupe with the SVT EAP rims... or whatever they're calling them nowadays. I could ALMOST love the car... ALMOST. It just needs more balls and one more cog on the transmission! Focus Rs - konafocuswrc - 12-19-2008 but do we get rs here.. The guy who was in charge of Ford's Rally effort, is now in charge of Ford's worldwide Performance division, so there's hope :D If you can, save up the necessary cash, and keep drivin' the one you have now. Totally depends! From a roll, my focus was pretty darn fast. It would easily pull on my wrx. AWD will only help you with take off traction, at the limits you can get very different driving results depending on drivers input (same with FWD and RWD), but most of you dont go anywhere near that...if both cars are running the same tires on a nice warm summer day, there's no reason for the FWD to not perform just as good or better than an AWD car at the track. Im talking a 300Hp sti vs a 300Hp rs, same tires, same weather...apples to apples. Im thought the RS was rated at something like 225 anyways? Some advantages with AWD when you throw bad weather in the mix, Im sure we can all agree to that, but having an AWD car, wont save you from hitting a patch of black ice on the highway and spinning out. I swear by AWD cars after my 1st subie, especially with my location and interests, but I dont beleive its required to have the ultimate sport comp car either. Focus Rs - DD1 - 12-20-2008 if your importing something I would kill for a early 90's escort cosworth hands down with a high tail wing oh ya as for the 4wd comment my old srt4 would get to 150 mph faster than an sti 0-150mph times.
