Emssions...when Does It Stop? Help - Frost__2001 - 12-17-2008 Flofocus,Dec 15 2008, 06:03 PM Wrote:you guys sure? I have to get my 88 bmw tested. I got my 1988 Corolla on the road without having to go get the test done, my mechanic took it to a drive clean place in Guelph, and they said it's an 88' so they didn't need one. when I registered the car the girl at the MTO looked at the paperwork when she said the words " do you have the emmision test paper?" then going oh, it's an 88. An 88 wouldn't require a test this year. Odd year cars test on even years and vice versa. Emssions...when Does It Stop? Ah, but in order to register a car after a sale at all the car needs a valid etest certificate unless otherwise exempted. So either a) there is an etest still in the system that is valid (an etest is valid for 6 months IIRC) or B) '88 and previous cars don't need a valid etest, otherwise the registration change would never have gone through at the MTO. Now this is of course subject to any changes in the law made after Frost2001 registered the Corolla. NefCanuck |
