i'd check to make sure whoever is going to put the cams in has the tools, definately makes the job a lot easier.... this saves you money on labour.

but to answer your question, no, you would not need them if you are not installing them yourself.

as far as the cam belt goes, if you do not have a lot of mileage on the car or just changed the belt, you could remove that from the list aswell. if you have 60k+ on the belt in the car, i HIGHLY suggest getting the belt with the cams and gears.

On a side note, you will need to buy a valve cover gasket and cam seals for this install. i highly suggest getting the OEM Ford parts for this, i have had a lot of problems with the cheap aftermarket stuff not fitting propperly or leaking within 10,000kms.

personally, i cannot justify the price difference between the kents and the CFM gears. kents are $120cnd more and have less adjustability and really... are not that much lighter.

if you were running a hollow cam and Ti springs, Ti retainers and Ti buckets along with a light weight Blue-Printed&Balanced bottom end and reving to 8-9k+ you would never notice the difference in the weight of the cam gears, even then it's doubtfull you would notice a difference unless you were tracking it with a datalogger on a dyno...

CFM gears are strong and are of a proven design to handle pretty mcuh anything. you would be hard pressed to find a better gear imho, let alone at the price!
