RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - Focus man. Focus. - 06-02-2010 Well just waiting for the wife and child to wake up to get the green light to finish up the swap. While looking at the pictures I noticed something that concerns me. The '05 ST flex lines that I picked up to up-grade from the stock 2 piece lines seem a little to short. If you look at the last couple pictures they seem a little streched out, although the suspension is at full extension. There is no bracket to keep the middle of the line in place and I am worried that it may come in to contact with the tire while driving. Has anybody done this change to the 1 piece lines? The one piece flex I got with the SVT swap kit also seemed a bit short, but my mechanic says it's fine ... having said that, I also bought a SS flex line kit for all non-SVT Focus with rear discs, and it was definitely too short - couldn't even get it on. The fact that you've got it connected is a good start ... the fact that there is no bracket is a function of the OE SVT setup which is a two piece - you may want to consider fabricating a bracket, but then the line might be too short. I'll have a look at my line today and see if there's any evidence of rubbing on the tire. RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - reldridge - 06-03-2010 Wow, looking good! Wish I had the ambition to tackle something like that. Swapping out the springs and struts/shocks alone was enough, let alone the subframe. Sucks that you have so much spare time though. RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - Focus man. Focus. - 06-03-2010 Well got it all back together and the brakes have been bled(sp). Flex lines seem ok, I am not worried about them any more. But I do have one issue. ABS Light is now on. Not sure if there was an existing problem with the sensors on the subframe when I got them. Now my question is this. Are the ABS Sensors from my old drum brakes the same as are used on the SVT Rear Disc set up I am currently using? I have the spare parts, hope they fit. Anybody know? RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - hardk0re - 06-03-2010 how did the motiv bleeder work out for you? RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - ZTWsquared - 06-03-2010 (06-03-2010, 03:04 AM)Focus man. Focus. IIRC it is easy to put the ABS sensor in backwards (magnetic side facing out instead of in ???) ... or miss it altogether; other than that just check all the connections. RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - Focus man. Focus. - 06-03-2010 Wow Kev, that thing is F'ing awsome. I have never used such an easy tool. Thanks so much for allowing me to use it. It really made the job a whole lot easier. Thanks man!!!! (06-03-2010, 03:57 AM)ZTWsquared Wrote:(06-03-2010, 03:04 AM)Focus man. Focus. Not sure what the issue would be other than the sensors or rings. I have removed the sensors from the old sub-frame and it is now sitting curb-side. Won't be long until a scrap metal guy goes by and picks it up. I will have to get under there another day when it isn't raining (just started here) and check everything out again. All Done with the exception of the ABS light - Focus man. Focus. - 06-03-2010 Here are the latest complete photo's. RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - Oscar The Grouch - 06-03-2010 Looks pretty awesome man. RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - reldridge - 06-03-2010 All I gotta say is daayyyuuuummmmm... That is hot. RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - Focus man. Focus. - 06-03-2010 Thanks guys. It was a lot of work but totally worth it. RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - Focus man. Focus. - 06-04-2010 While disassembling my old sub-frame to remove the Eibach springs, I realized that I didn't install the rubber spring isolators that were located on the bottom of the springs. The white rubber donuts. How important are they and will I run into problems by not having them installed? If needed I can easily pull it all apart again and pop them in, but the wife thinks I have done enough work on the car for a while. RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - reldridge - 06-04-2010 I'm running without them on mine with my SVT springs. I have the springs sitting in the LCA, indexed to the 'notch'. I haven't had any issues. I only have isolators on the top. -Ryan RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - Focus man. Focus. - 06-04-2010 Thatnks for the info Ryan. I currently have no isolaters in the suspension at all. It looks as if the rear is a tiny bit lower, but I am not worried. RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - Spinal - 06-05-2010 my car never came with any for the bottom, just the top. RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - reldridge - 06-05-2010 When you get some time, I'd put the isolators in the top at least. It will get rid of some of the 'high frequency' vibrations, if you feel any. You should be able to use a spring compressor to compress the spring, and just slide it in on top. UPDATE: Swaped the ABS sensors from the SVT sub-frame with the ones I removed from my old drum set-up and now the light has gone out. I fix. RE: Complete Suspension Overhaul - GFXjamie - 06-06-2010 looks pretty good dude! congrats on the refresh, bet it feels like a completely new car now!
