RE: escort motor swap - drunkinmonkey - 05-10-2013

hows this coming along?

RE: escort motor swap - stupica1 - 05-11-2013

No real updates lately. Haven't had any time at all to even look at it. I'm accumulating some parts so when I do get. Weekend to work on it I have a decent amount t of work to do.

Gotta pick up svt fuel tank and pump. Want to upgrade my brakes but unsure of what route to go with that. Interiors close to being done. Need to order a harness bar. Wire the whole engine bay still and all my gauges.. Need a quote exhaust still as well... Then tuning and it's road worthy at least. A larger turbo would also be awesome. Lol

Haha damn dude you still got a long ways to go lol

RE: escort motor swap - stupica1 - 06-03-2013

UPDATE!

So it's been a while since posting, I've just been soo crazy busy lately with my new job. So this weekend I decided to get stuff moving along again. So here's whats all been done!

Motor mount finally installed, after sitting on my dresser for about 2 months haha

Corbeau 4 point harness installed. I also have the passenger seat bracket with sliders to install...just didnt get around to it yet lol Also removed my rear seats.

Rear Sway bar installed...on subframe thats not on the car yet haha, I got the steeda race rear sway bar which is 26.8mm? or somewhere in around there...not sure. But notice the difference compared to stock. its crazy.

My EXTREMELY LUCKY find at the brantford scrapyard. Rear Subframe with (almost new even) rear disc brakes. and best part, it didnt even come off an SVT model. I got it off a 2001 sedan. best part, only paid $150

and lastly, I finished my custom dash. I was originally going for the smooth glossy look, but i ended up going felt. It turned out awesome! still not 100% done, I have some trimming to do and more pieces to finish, but you get the idea!

RE: escort motor swap - darkpuppet - 06-04-2013

wow, that's looking good so far.. can't wait to see this thing come together finally!

RE: escort motor swap - stupica1 - 06-23-2013

another quick update...

Got a new rear view mirror. very awesome i might add. Love this thing!

another thing I am trying is customizing my cooling system to remove that huge coolant tank we have...here's what I've come up with!

^^ I've replaced the focus thermostat housing with an Escort zx2 style. Also took the zx2 overflow bottle and place it under the fender near the inline filler neck as seen above. Blocked off the other ports in my rad to its a more direct in and out style for better flow throughout my motor. I also got rid of those huge stock fans and got me a nice 14" slim fan for the front. I think im going to order another one to place beside it...might hang over a bit but will still get the job done and cleans up the engine bay. (once I throw the cover on you wont even see the fans up front)

As for other goodies... I got my rear adjustable camber and toe arms in! lovely massive purple of course! Also managed to snag these awesome purple lug nuts for a great deal.

RE: escort motor swap - stupica1 - 08-02-2013

another fun update! woohoo lol

so I ordered a new clutch line from CFM (mine stock one was completely rotted out) and here's the difference between the two.

*Note, the clutch line from CFM is for SVT models only...

as you can see its a fair bit longer than the standard zetec clutch line...luckily I had a spare 10an barbed fitting that was shorter laying around so i just swapped them out and its perfect length now! Smile

here's a close up of the CFM fitting (Left) and the stock fitting (right). CFM did a great job making these!

RE: escort motor swap - zx3kash - 08-02-2013

Looks good man. What -10 fitting did you use to shorten the line?

RE: escort motor swap - stupica1 - 08-03-2013

I used my turbo feed line that was running from the side of my head to the turbo. But after talking to gfx jamie he mentioned that starves the cam gears of oil. So now im using the longer hose to stretch around the block to a better feed point. So it worked out quite nice actually.

RE: escort motor swap - Kotlkn - 08-07-2013

Just curious, is this Focus just for the track, because according to the MTO you can only swap an engine that was offered in the model car you are putting the engine into (ie. you can put a V8 mustang engine in a V6 mustang). With the older engine in a newer car, that engine has to pass the emissions of the newer car. It would have to pass 2001 Focus emissions vs the 1998 escort emisions. Also because that engine wasn't offered in the car you put it into, your MTO registration will now be a Hot Rod Registration which also effects your insurance. That's only if you want everything on the up and up. If you don't register it as a Hot Rod with the MTO and insurance and you do get into an accident, you insurance may not cover you.

by the way car is looking great

RE: escort motor swap - stupica1 - 08-07-2013

Everything from tge escort motor was swapped out to focus zetec parts. Such as the head. Block skirt. Etc. So its essentially a focua motor now. So its all good. Tried getting the escort vct head to work...yeah wasnt happening so i stuck a focus head back on and works flawless now.

RE: escort motor swap - stupica1 - 08-07-2013

Finally got around to tapping my windage trey for my oil drain line and cleaning it up a bit before tossing it back on.
Painted it a nice gold.

I tapped it right where FSWERKS taps there kits...im goin to have to figure out how to run the downpipe still so it doesnt hit the drain line. shouldn't be too difficult. that's the next step is the turbo back exhaust. with a custom downpipe.
