i was wondering if bootleg xenon bulbs mess up ur headlight housing due to the heat also is it illegal to have xenon foglamps? and will it also messup ur foglamp housing?

i kno that this has happened to someone i kno with 2005 mazda p5

i have 2005 zx5 ses

I know a couple people on there board had the housing melt or just the wires. There not illegal if there the correct wattage.

It's usually not a good idea, since most of those "bright" bulbs are a higher-than-stock wattage which will create the heat that will damage your housings and/or wiring. They also usually dont last very long, so you'll be replacing them often.

Basically you get what you pay for most of the time.

xenon high intensity discharge headlights actually use less wattage then conventional halogen bulbs. 35 vs 55/60 w. so in essence its NOT the heat that will mess up your factory headlights. I CAN picture peoples wiring harnesses melt due to the fact that the actual Ballasts need to "Draw" more power at startup than conventional wiring can handle.
