Any Alternative To Light Covers? - Raine - 09-13-2005 My passenger side tail-light cover likes flying off. I've lost 2 this way. Is there any viable, semi-permanent alternative to light covers? I wanna keep my blacked out look, but this is a little frustrating. I don't wanna spend a lot of money, and don't want anything that looks cheap/is illegal. Options? Options? Quit cheaping out and spend some money, buy the TYC Elegante one's that Jerkass, I mean microbunny has for sale. Other option would be to go to a grapics shop and have some sort of custom decal made to go over the tail lights with cut outs in whatever shape/design you want, or just a fade look so it looks black from the outside but light will still shine thru. Options? Yeah, dont be a jerkass like me...buy my lights!! Any Alternative To Light Covers? - Raine - 09-13-2005 Bunny knows damned well I'd buy his lights if I had the money. I'm too damned short on Cash right now to afford them. What about tint? Can I tint the tails with a few layers of window tint? Any Alternative To Light Covers? - guilty - 09-13-2005 http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthr...&threadid=56200 This may be helpful.. I know people have used window tint to tint their lights, dont know how it would stand up to extreme weather though. Would be cheap to try, and easier to remove than nightshade or anything else. If you've got the money and want it professionally done, I know people who have smoked their lights by getting a bodyshop to mix clearcoat and black paint to whatever darkness they wanted, turns out really glossy to match the paint. Yeh.///lasted a while too Any Alternative To Light Covers? - meford4u - 09-13-2005 Take a crap on your headlights and they will look the same as they do now. Just spread it around a little with your hand. Don't forget to wash after. Niteshit will do the same results but more expensive. Reapply after washing the car or rain storms. :D Any Alternative To Light Covers? - NOS2Go4Me - 09-13-2005 ^^ *kick* go fill that sea cow you call a gas tank in that truck! :P Niteshade's a tad expensive, but durable. I've never seen something painted on take so much abuse and neglect... i.e. my lack of frequent car washings. P.I. has some, so does Jarrod at http://www.cubed.ca. Any Alternative To Light Covers? - meford4u - 09-13-2005 Last time I filled it was at 95cent gas. It's on empty now and I have to fill it tomorrow. Anybody got $5?? Keep that crap on your own car :P  I like this tinting idea... looks pretty straight forward too... what if I splurge on a good tint, like proper limo window tint... would it be more likely to stand up to the snow in the winter/heat in the summer? If not, is there anything I can coat it in (i.e. clear coat) that will help it endure longer? Thanks for the advice so far. Bunny, wanna help me with this project? I know you're good with tint... I'll get bubbles in the s**t... we can do my turn signals at the same time. I dont think the tint itself will make much difference, the installation is the most important part. It's worth a try though, for the small amount it'll cost you. Any Alternative To Light Covers? - Raine - 09-15-2005 You sure? It's like the interior window tint... cheap out and you get scratches... If it's not an issue, I'll just got to the local tint shop or crappy tire and pick up a roll of 5%. |
