Ya but have you cut the metal on the door. The 6.5" JBL Competition components I have in there now have a 1/2" wooden plate to raise them closer to the door panel because the woofer is so deep. Also you cannot mount a 6.5" woofer directly onto the metal. I was thinking of going with a set of 5 1/4" components!

Just out of curiousity what is the stock speaker size in the front doors  ?

LOL... if youre going with 5.25s ill buy the jbls off you in a second. My focals are installed using a 1/4 inch piece of fiberboard as a baffle.

Steve, I'll make you a deal. I'm gonna try to make thinner baffles and hopefully that will work. If that doesn't work and you could get a set of Infinity Kappa Perfect 5.1's brand new I'll make you a straight trade. Those damn JBL's are worth $700.

I've got MB Quart 5 1/4 components front, 5x7 rear.
Stock are 6x8 front and rear

Components Size - GlennH - 12-16-2004

i believe stock is known as 6x8 or 5x7
but if your gonna do it properly... design a baffle and do the 6.5 component set.

Components Size - MAlby7 - 12-25-2004

Well last night and today I made my new baffles. They are made from 1/4" HDF, and they work great my speakers don't hit the door panels anymore and nothing vibrates. They also look more professional than the ones that 20Hz made me. Just goes to show that if you want something done right you gotta do it your self.
